Title: Jabbalad's Candy white Edition 30 build thread
Post by: jabbalad on May 05, 2010, 11:55:11 am
Well here it goes, im not the best at these things so please be patent  :fighting2:
After a month or so of looking this beauty popped up, 08 candy white Edition 30 with satnav, Xenons, and so on, just what i was looking for
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2F_MG_2913.jpg&hash=89d8be5f25cb0650ce3c8cb0fae46aaadacadf28)

After how much the audi had done to it i said i would leave this car standard... yea right
The monday after picking it up there was a set of Eibach springs on there way to me thanks to my good friend at Eibach! (the slippery slope had started!)
the weekend after i had picked it up i armed with a set of Eibach Springs and Eibach wheel spacers i was off to the ring
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2F_MG_0092.jpg&hash=bc5b4a356bc08a3569b9bb739d2fc53685368b3c)
I didnt think to time any laps, but looking back at the one lap that my friend had recorded we saw that we were around the 8.40 region with going through the old pit lane (they were prepping the barriers on the joining part between the new and old tracks for the 24hr testing later in the day).... didnt think that was too  bad for a basically standard car!

After a few months the bug to do more had bitten! so with a few phone calls made, a new milltek Turbo back exhaust system, KW Clubsport coiovers and some Ferodo DS2500 pads were on there way to me
Whilst these went on i thought it would be a bit of a shame if i didnt put a Jabba generic map on to compliment the mods
Heres how the car sat on its new coilovers, at this point i had smoothed and painted my grill mask, and painted the bottom part of the rear bumper matt black too!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2F_MG_4003.jpg&hash=703cd2faf28ea28bd086423b80335854851655e4)

At this point it was estimated that the car was running around 290-300 bhp as the car hadnt yet been on the rollers! (this was later confirmed on the rolling road  )

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2Ftrackday.jpg&hash=dcbafaf5b7aed35bee151643ce60c74261c55e04)One trackday at snetterton later and the brakes were dead! so i set about talking to matt at VW Racing about the best no nonsense route to go! ( I had already had the Porsche 6 pot calipers on the audi, and as good as they were, they still didnt have the feel or power that i would like!)
Matt informed me that they were making arrangements to change there big brake kit to make it better, so after waiting a couple of months for it to become available i had the first customer fitted kit in my hands
Couple of hours later and they were on along with some Team Dynamics wheels....
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2FDSC00539.jpg&hash=f620ff06f6f17ce9aca8661baa069e8fa4035f87)
(this one was taken the day before i fitted the brakes!)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2F_MG_4006.jpg&hash=cda963954c71fa48b94e5001d3ae5c8654d01b53)

To say i was impressed with the brakes was an understatement! coupled with the DS3000 pads the stopping power was immense, by far the best survo'd brakes i had ever felt!!! this gave so much more confidence in the car it was unreal!

The car then stopped like this for a few months with the exception of a full set of Superpro bushes front and rear! I then got bored again and decided to order a forge twintake   also after a week of listening to the addison lee VW cup scirocco being custom mapped on the rollers i decided to get mine on and Kev set about custom mapping it for me
The outcome of this was 330 bhp and a nice healthy slab of torque to help shove me along, at this point the standard fuel pump was maxxed out! so we set about getting a few of the Autotech pump internals sent over! DSG gearbox was also limiting what we could do, so i went of too get the Gearbox map loaded in!
With the pump now on, the car was back onto the rolling road.... the outcome of this was 347bhp, but a massive spread of power and a healthy torque curve! the car felt soo good now, it was such a big change

As it was coming into the better weather i ordered some Toyo R888 tyres to help with the grip, then set off to GTI Spring festival...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2FDSC_0160.jpg&hash=f3f2dc2bce0e3f5d4b87674a9298d659a765d35a)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2FIMG_1961.jpg&hash=f2b33880b56a5c94b287a35cce4913ebb576de95)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjabbalad%2Fedition_30_build_thread%2FDSC_5610a.jpg&hash=ef6e527f2262befa02c79c1db701701ba7b885ba)

With all the new mods now onboard the car clocked an impressive 12.79 @ 111mph!
I was really pleased with this considering i was still using the standard intercooler and how hot it was on the day! would of been sapping the power!

Now we come to the current day! (5th may 2010)
The S3 intercooler and pipes were fitted in saturday, this made a massive difference! the car felt alot sharper on throttle response and it seemed to pull so much better all the way through the rev range and pulled the same in every gear too where as before it would tail off quite alot when getting through 3rd and into 4th, 5th and 6th!

I only got a couple of days to appreciate it tho as come monday morning (bank holiday) i set about taking the turbo off! 3 hours later the turbo was off and packed ready to be sent off to turbo dynamics to be Hybridized?

which has now left the car in this state... hopefully the turbo should be back this week though and i can get it back on for the weekend  :happy2:

like it, wish i had my car in white, its without doubt the best colour.  i reckon his is the most eagerly  anticipated thread for a while wit your planned mods.

since the car is now stationary with no turbo fitted, and has the S3 IC  in location this is the perfect time to get the WMI install done

Any chance you could pm me details on what jabba can do for Tdi motors? Enquired through the website a while back an never heard anything back. Cheers

At the moment were really not sure if im honest... They reckon it should do 400bhp, but until its been mapped next week we cant really say.

I will keep it updated on here tho so as soon as we know, you will know

Have you just been running it on V-Power on the previous dyno runs?

400hp would be mighty impressive on that housing for sure  :happy2: What dyno do you guys have out of interest?

Just been doing some measuring if anyone's interested...

Compressor Wheels:
K03 - Inducer 41mm / Exducer 53.4mm
K04 - Inducer 46.3mm / Exducer 59.2mm
TD K04 Hybrid - Inducer 49.5mm / Exducer 65.5mm

Haven't measured turbine wheels.
There's no difference between K04 and K04 Hybrid anyway except the blades are cutback.

Also just ported out the intake housing/elbow as there was a bit of a step where TD had machined it for the larger wheel so we've ported it out the elbow to match the TD machining..

Should think Luke will be fitting this weekend along with RS4 pressure regulator and de-cat. Possibly some W/I :)

So is that the K24 wheel? Or did they go with billet HTA?

There, thats better  :happy2:

I have a question though, how will the water meth be controlled in the event of runing out of mixture as your map is not switchable.  is there some way of it automatically adjusting the timing or boost etc
Sy :happy2:
Title: Re: Jabbalad's Candy white Edition 30 build thread
Post by: jabbasport on May 07, 2010, 06:27:42 pm
In the worst situation the ecu would detect the change and the ignition timing would be pulled back.

But for Lukes i plan to utilize the lower octane coding built into the ecu and switch via VCDS for when the W/I isn't being used..

All kits now come with low level indicators as standard if you're using the supplied bottle and there is the option of a Safe Injection unit which drops boost if the flow drops..

I was having a chat with TFSI_mike the other day, and we both agreed that its about time some real tuning started occuring.. Everything so far seems to be generic maps and normal bolt ons.

Means alot dude, as a company we have alwase been about evolution, and doing it our own way!
This hybrid is just the beginning for us on the 2.0 tfsi though

Anywho, the turbo is all on the car now  :jumpmove:
Pics will follow tomorow when i have done the last couple of bits!
Been trying to do all the bits after work as its been a bit manic trying to fit in a re shell of a customers MK2 race car around all the other big turbo/ engine builds we have here at the min.... hey ho its all good fun tho

Yeah, we'll be looking into hybrid K03 options next, we've got one sat on the shelf here that i think we'll be sending over to Turbo Dynamics for some development.

I reckon we could put a K04 wheel in a K03 housing and do around 300-310bhp.

Just putting my nan on eBay... Will swap for hybrid ko4 & map

I have to try and wait untill the hybrid / mapping is adequately road tested. Be a nightmare If there was
to be a silly niggling problem when I got back to Germany soon :(

   now that would grab my attention more than a k04 for some strange reason 310hp with very little lag and then maybe some WMI as well.  Presumably would require injectors though?

No problem, Luke's going over to the ring as he says middle of this month so as soon as it's mapped it's doing at least 1000 miles and some hard miles around the ring. :)

Yeah, i'd say you'd need injectors to be safe, just some K04 injectors though.

We haven't got any K03 cars of our own so will probably looking for a Guinea pig at some time soon :)

yeah but as far as im aware it also requires a DV relocation therefore different intakes, TB/IC pipe new DV mounting kit etc so not as bolt on as it seems.

Kev

what car/turbo is this normally used on?
Title: Re: Jabbalad's Candy white Edition 30 build thread
Post by: jabbasport on May 08, 2010, 04:30:24 pm
Porsche KKK i believe.

The Owen Developments turbo is a hybrid K04, so not a direct bolt on for K03 i believe.

We're hoping to put a K04 wheel on a K03 and cut back the turbine etc.

Doing this means no relocation or anything needed etc but all still in the ideas stage at the moment.

I fitted the RS4 Pressure regulator while i was doing the turbo... what a pain in the arse!!! I think it took longer to do this than it did to re fit the turbo!
So annoying as you can see it fine, but getting to it to undo it is another matter!
Got it all on anyway after mucho swearing!  :innocent:

Just driving it round only using part throttle at the moment until its mapped, but first impressions are good, im pretty sure it feels like it picks up quicker, there is no more lag than what there was before anyway, We will see what its like when its mapped tho

No funky fuel or laughing gas like the Yanks though please..

Would it be possible to over lay the two graphs pre and post hybrid..

And also add on there AIT so we can see how much difference the S3 cooler has made..

And if your feeling really good boost graphs too  :pomppomp:

These Eibach ones have been a long time coming, but with any Eibach product im 99% sure they will be as good as they can be, and very well developed!

Luckilly caught it in time, massive vibration through the car etc so immediately stopped the car and pulled it off.

Bearing locked up and spun on the shaft so got a new bearing and shimming it to take up the play etc...

Trying to get it sorted asap..

It's tucked up for the night on the rollers...

Currently working on the top end hp but we're struggling to keep the torque to a sensible level, it's really eager to do about 390ft-lbs @ 3280rpm!!! i'd rather limit the torque to a lower figure for reliability though.

Will be continuing tomorrow morning..

nice, you would probably need more than just an S3 cooler if your running that torque

we need more teaser info though, like how much sooner boost seems to come in, and how much the lower rev range power is improved etc etc etc

You'd be supprised, with the new S3 cooler i haven't seen anything over 21 degrees intake temperature yet whilst on the dyno.

Boost looks like it comes in about 250rpm later, due to the larger compressor wheel. Remember we're putting a bigger turbo on, so its bound to spool later.

reliable in what way? drivetrain I presume?

Mainly the box to be honest, i know theres some people running high torque through the boxes but i'd rather go for around 350-360ft-lb of torque with a nice curve rather than peak figures .

i was thinking the cut back turbines might have made it boost earlier, but i guess it means it will boost for longer rather than earlier

I think with such a peak torque ,except the box,the rods are also in danger.
Here in Greece we have seen some examples of rods getting C figure
The smoother the t.curve is,the more reliable engine you get.
Are you going to do something with the wastegate(forge?).
Congrats with your project :congrats:

Makes the car much nicer to drive for sure.. That's why I was interested to see boost requested and actual graphs etc.. No worries if you don't want to disclose them, but it would be the best way of showing the diference between the stock and hybrid turbo.. :)

out of interest do you guys make your own dsg software?

Title: Re: Jabbalad's Candy white Edition 30 build thread
Post by: jabbasport on May 13, 2010, 02:47:25 pm
We don't unfortunately. As we do all software in house and quite a small company in comparison to people like APR or Revo we just haven't got the resources to develop the hardware and software for DSG boxes. We're actually running Revo software in our DSG box.

Slight hold back with mapping at the moment, seeing about 370bhp and 350-360ft-lb of torque but not really making the boost i'd like to see at the top end.. Boost request is there, but N75 duty only sits at around 40%. Certainly not an actuator issue, more that the MED9 isn't opening up the N75 the top end. If you jump on the throttle at say 5000rpm then it makes some nice figures, but if you do a run from 1500rpm to 7200rpm the top end duty isn't what i want.

Cue what seems to be endless hours of searching through the software, I've already found a few other things that some tuners seem to have missed but have to keep that hush! :)

More info when it comes available.

Kev

We're not sure on that one yet. Once we've developed this Hybrid software we can then decide whether we'd like to go down the route of either writing code into the ecu to swtich, like APR, or using a STS unit for customers to load maps into the car..

dont just look at 370 and think thats it, as you were expecting more,

iirc they made 348Hp on their rollers previously.  Now that equated to a 12.7 1/4 mile at the pod.  Alot of other guys on here quote much higher horsepower figures, yet manage much lower 1/4 mile times.

Now on the same rollers on the same car with a modded turbo, they are already makin 22Hp more on an unfinsihed map.  Imagine what that will do at the pod then.

Any comparisons betwee the two turbos can only be done on this cars before and after outputs, and not compared against other cars   because of the age old dyno lottery
Mapping no where near finished yet, but i need a break :)  :rolleye:

When do you guys predict the finished product.

Totally agree mate. But I wouldn't focus to much on the 1/4 mile time compared with others with more power. As those were not necessarily running on semi slicks with only a drivers seat left in..
Still bloody impressive either way. But i'd of liked to seen what Luke would of run with full road trim and road tyres..

I reckon we can compare.  iirc djhorice was running track day kumhos and both him and owenLCR had their car seats stripped out.  Making a smidgeon over 13seconds.  Also hurdy uses semi slicks tyres on the stip as well.

Yeah, but Al (djhorace) is in a Cupra, so not DSG and Hurdy is DSG, but wasn't stripped. See where i'm coming from bud?

The best one to compare it to would be Jonny's Golf when it was a K04. His had the rear seats removed (not the front), but had carbon bonnet and a few other lightened bits (so similar in weight). His was also DSG and ran a similar time, being a 12.6.  :happy2:

Good luck  :happy2:. Can you do graphs with and without WMI please as Owen and I will be doing WMI in June.

PS - Re comments above - I am not that impressed with the Autotech Anti-Roll bars - they are nowhere near as good as I thought they would be over OEM bars although they are better than they were now they are asjusted. Regarding tyres, my car was quicker off the line with Vrestein Ultrac Sessantas than with the Kumho's. Also, Hurdys 1/4 mile time was with the car stripped too as I recall (all but passenger seat).

This may end up getting expensive for me  :ashamed:

Good luck  :happy2:. Can you do graphs with and without WMI please as Owen and I will be doing WMI in June.

PS - Re comments above - I am not that impressed with the Autotech Anti-Roll bars - they are nowhere near as good as I thought they would be over OEM bars although they are better than they were now they are asjusted. Regarding tyres, my car was quicker off the line with Vrestein Ultrac Sessantas than with the Kumho's. Also, Hurdys 1/4 mile time was with the car stripped too as I recall (all but passenger seat).

Full interior when I did my 1/4 mile time.

I've done a couple of 12.9's with the rears out and the quaife since using the racelogic box. They were on Sessanta's too at a terminal of 116.9, but on a private road!! not a raceway. IIRC 12.7-12.8 with the R1R's for you Alan :happy2:

Luke's got a half map at the moment :)

Running it last night he was saying it's got a real strong top end to it but i'll let him go into more detail.

Some nice chatters from the compressor on gearchanges and letting off the throttle :)

Yea of course  come and see me as im a bit shy to go and introduce myself to new people  :ashamed:

Driving it around now it feels soo much different, spool seems about the same but it just has so much pull now!
Before with both front tyres warm it would wheelspin in 2nd but not for too long (225 toyo r888s) now today with the tyres nice and sticky in the 16 degree heat it wheespins all through 2nd and most of the way through 3rd (thats not trying to provoke it spinning either)
The pull feels soo much stronger even with it mapped how it is!
Its really hard to explain.... but it sort of feels like standard.... but with shed loads more power and torque! no nasty spiky bits in the delivery and no massive slab of torque to work round!

Cant wait to feel it when its fully mapped

Oh yea the Eibach ARBs are mega! there both adjustable too which is a bonus! i forgot to weigh them but they feel alot lighter than the usual upgraded ARBs, initial response to them is that the car corners allot flatter with them fitted! paired with the Club sports it feels so planted on my setup! Nice and oversteery when you want it to be, but if your driving on the limit its not going to turn round and bite you! very very impressed!  :congrats:

anyway, i cant wait to get out to the nurburgring now! one week to go  :jumping: :pomppomp:

How long is a pice of string.... haha

Immediate thing will be MWI, a diff and Uprated engine mounts!

then it will be a case of what products we want to develop and test on it, as it is my own personal car but its also the main development tool for Jabba....
I think my goal is to get the engine right (valves, pistons rods and so on!) then develop our own kit to go for some proper power  :happy2:

I will be looking to do a few other bits too, like different seats and loosing some weight out of it but without making it a car that wont be nice to drive everyday!

Will see what happens :happy2:

Right, take this the right way guys, but I think everyone is waiting for these magic figures may be missing the point.. Also, try and give the guys at Jabba a little bit of a breathing space..

A hybrid K04 isn't going to make silly figures, but what it could well do is really improve on the OEM turbo's power and torque curve, translating into 'actual' real world performance, and not just pub talk peak dyno figures..

As we all know there is massive disparity between dyno's, Stage 2+ cars making 350hp to 400hp with no differences to spec.. So there is always going to be that argument too.. Something that no one can defend against unfortunately.. However..

I think Lee would agree that a much better test would be to look at 1/4 mile terminals, and as Lee recently ran at Santa Pod this will be a true measure of the cars performance.. 111mph with K04 and standard cooler then ???mph with hybrid and S3 cooler.. Thats what ill be looking at anyways

With 390-400hp 116+mph terminals would be easily attainable..

Wish you the best of luck! :happy2:

cheers jonny, wish everybody had your mind set

Jonny is absolutely right, The Hybrid K04 wont make massive figures, but what hybrid of a standard turbo ever has?

With this turbo were trying to develop something that will give you quite a bit more power and better every day drivability, but without the cost (and hassle) of going for a "big turbo kit"

So far what we have done is something that other software developers would take months to work out even with many people all looking for the same bits!
The bit were struggling with at the moment is something we know has been left by other developers, were trying to get round this, but it means Kev has to sit day in day out looking through the ecu trying to find it (whilst still doing booked in work like mapping Clio Rallycross cars, and brand new Grinnal road cars!)

We are making progress, but we dont really have anything to go against as there isnt any figures out there for this turbo  :scared:

My bum Dyno has felt a massive difference in how it drives and the outright power and torque (which would go with our before and after Dyno comparison) and it now feels quicker than my 440bhp A3 that i had before!

When its all done and were happy with it i suppose the best thing we can do is to take it to a rolling road where others have been? that way it would be more of a direct comparison?
Where abouts was Hurdys 383bhp run done by chance?

I know its difficult to proove performance figures over the internet without posting Dyno plots..... but on the second hand you dont drive to the shops on a Dyno  :happy2:

If anyone wants to come and have a go in my car your more than welcome, its at jabba all day (and night most days ) I suppose that would be the best way for people to make up there own minds

It will also be at the upcoming York Raceway event at the end of the month running the car (along with Stoner show, Edition 38, GTI international were we have a stand! and as many other shows i can possibly get to)
I will let jonny loose in it at York if he fancies a go

does it actually work out much cheaper than buying a big turbo though?  Turbo dynamics are charging £900 to carry out the work aswell as the cost of the turbo.  Everyone i have spoken to says that turbo dynamics have refused there supplies turbos due to excessive play. so basically you need to supply a brand spanking turbo £1400 i think +£900 for work, isnt the price of going big turbo not much more than this.

Yup :( Steve said they refused 1 of 2 turbos for what they class as "too much journal wear to be able to mod"
If I shell out for my turbo taking off to be sent off to be told its no good its a week without my car and wasted euros :'(

You are forgetting that a hybrid K04 will bolt straight on and you will just need a map compliment it.  If you go BT you there are a whole host of extras you will require - new manifold, dump valve, exhaust, intake ...

he had sent 2 away and both were refused, so he got one with 5k on it and waiting to hear back regarding that one, if i was going to spend £2500ish on a turbo i think i would be going for gt3071

your right mate, i dont know how much a fullBT upgrade would cost excluding internals, just wasnt sure if it would be much more than the hybrid option???

but this is exactly the point of the hybrid.  its alright having allof this power high up in the rev range but if boost comes in really late its not going to be drivable in everyday conditions.

for instance take into consideration hurdys k04  car compared with DanGBs gt28

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ft8%2Fhurdy_album%2FHurdyDanGB.jpg&hash=f0513fb533178ff54ffa039b088eaefb5fbbcf31)

look how much more torque and power hurdy is making early on.

great graphs si, I have no doubt that the K04 hybrid will be alot more drivable and is a great idea.  Is there any way to give the turbo a check for movement as a routine check or does it need to be inspected professionally, i remember my old LCR had the turbo go and when i checked for movement the impeller moved about 10-15mm side to side when it shouldnt really move atall

Haha not quite being chased down, more like just overtook the CRX

Had a mega weekend, didnt do too many laps as im back there in july in the Leon anyway! but the car felt mega and performed flawlessly engine wise...   however I managed to cook my VWR brakes which is slightly worrying, need to get in contact with them about it as there is some really funny noises and feelings coming from them now!
Was a rather warm weekend tho!!!

The first lap felt awesome, felt soo much quicker than last year! but then i managed to cook the brakes on the 2nd lap which didnt fill me with much confidence at all, they still worked ok but just didnt give the confidence to push into corners!  :sad1:

With the dodgy brakes we saw a 9 min dead lap from the one lap we videoed.... that was miles of the pace tho with having to brake so early just to make sure there was going to be some brakes!

Going to try and get ot sorted for july tho and have another go

roll on monday at york tho, wont need the brakes too much there so it will be fine  :happy2:

A bit worring about the brakes, you're not the first i've seen having trouble with the new vwr setup.
I'm sorry i didn't get to say hi to you and try your golf.  :sad1:
I have the R32 brakes front and rear with DS2500 front, didn't do more than 2 1/2 lap in a row and had no problems what so ever. i was only just below 10 min. but i didn't hold back IMO.
When in July will you be back?? I've got the itch now and will be back again this year  :stupid:

who else is having issues with the VWR brakes out on track then?

Luke...car looks superb mate but sorry to hear the brakes weren't holding as well.

I did 8 laps over 2 days with my standard 345mm set up. Lasted no probs but then again i wasn't pushing it as much!

PaulK was less than impressed with his, (i'm quite sure they were the version 2 of VWR brakes he had fitted), lots of judder when pressing on, also Illtronik i believe have had problems with them, but i might stand corrected

Couldnt fault my S3 'DaveB specials' one bit either! Did everything i asked of them and so much better than the 312s, well impressed!   :happy2:
My setup is S3 calipers, braided hoses, plain oe discs, motul rbf600 and Mintex M1144 pads, i shopped wisely and with Daves help it all came in well under £500, Bloody bargain for the performance increase!!

Well.....

We have been going through the maps and there is defiantly no limit from the engine side (what i was getting at york where its backing off under more load)

We have been looking into it some more and it appears that the gearbox is limiting it... which would be why the requested boost drops when it is set higher on the map.

Mine is Running the first stage REVO DSG software installed by the TT shop (who have been very helpful)
On the day i said i wanted to go straight to the higher stage with future mods in mind, but REVO said to the TT shop that they wouldn't recommend it at the time because of the harsh nature of how the clutches engage (something i wasnt bothered about, but they said they would load the lower one in then when needed i could come back and they would load in stage2 for just the difference in cost)

Now we have come to upgrade there seems to be an issue with being able to purchase it....
REVO said that there isnt a need for us to upgrade as apparently there isnt any difference between the 2 apart from the launch control settings! (so now the cluches dont engage different and the clutch pressures arnt any different like they said they did before?)

so now im stuck with DSG software that isnt suited to the power/ torque and is limiting the boost!

It seems there cop out was that it wouldn't work with different software... something we know is complete crap as Jonnys old Edition 30 is working perfectly fine on Jabba Software with the higher DSG software....

Really dont understand what there problem is, we dont have any interest (or time) to do our own DSG software so we would of been happy to recommend other customers to go to them for it.... but if you arnt aloud to buy something they advertise whats the point?

Anyway.... Better option coming very soon  :happy2:

Sorry to hear that Luke. For me the reasoning behind REVO's answer doesn't ring true. They say that there is no difference, yet your car performs okay with a K04 and then is SLOWER with a hybrid  Surely their limits aren't exceeded that far?

The stage 2 software is excellent, and I simply cannot see any reason why you shouldn't be able to upgrade to it.

There is always the GIAC option. They have updated their software to match the REVO stage 2 software.

Thats what were thinking... really doesn't make sense as if it was on the car it would only gain them publicity for there DSG software! even if it isnt running there engine software.... Maybe there not confident in there own software?

Its because this new turbo is obviously capable of exceeding the limits that they put into the DSG software that its pulling the engine management side back to limit whats going into the gearbox! unfortunately it pulls it back quite alot tho... so much that it hardly pulls at times in the higher gears!

Kev has been on the phone with them this afternoon, he said its just like going round and round in circles!  :scared:
i will let Kev explain more if he comes on

I think the agent has to ring up Revo for the code and to give the chasis number.  :happy2:

Also i think that you are correct to be very bemused and pissed at the moment, but i can see this ruining your build thread, as disagreements between tuners on open forums can get messy. My advice would be to remove your posts until the situation has been resolved, its your thread you can do what you want just giving my advice on what i think is the best way to keep this as a build thread.  :drinking:
