Hi. Has anyone had this problem? I have a 2005 GTI, recently had oil changed etc. 2k miles later the oil pressure light came on and it’s just below the min mark. Doesn’t appear to be any leak and no blue smoke from the exhaust. Is this normal? Thanks

Firstly, did you originally check the level without running the engine following the oil change? If so...the drop may be from filling the oil filter housing once it did get started. But being at the bottom wouldn't trigger a CEL with an oil pressure icon/code.
Oil consumption; Oil could be pooling in the fmic and boost plumbing for now, but at WOT you may see some smoke. If not smoking daily while driving tamely, the leak is likely not from the valve train going directly into combustion. This means you may have a busted valve cover-internal splash plate that seals the evap and pcv reroute to the turbo inlet... or it could be a leaking turbo seal.

Who doesn't check their oil for 2,000 miles?
Yes, they use oil
Yes, it's normal
Yes, you need to check it and top it up a lot more often

As above.........but found mine has balanced out since moving from 5w30 to 5w40

2k seems low for oil consumption but fair enough. This is my first GTI so if this is normal then lesson learnt. Cheers
