Agreed, but thats not what we're debating. Atleast I hope that's not what we're debating

Do all the usual checks.

Fault code scan
Long term fuel trims
Chain wear correlation (cam sensor position, usually block 93)
Boost leaks
High and low fuel pressure checks
VVT function

I had exactly the same problem with my ED30.  In my case it was too much boost, too soon.  My fault, I did ask fo

Cheers all.

I've ordered Corecco units from Euro Car Parts as they were the better quality option and are currently at 40% off making them cost £45 for a pair. Not running modified suspension on my car, my MR2 Turbo gets all that stuff.

Put one of these in mine as the CD changer was missing when purchased. The storage space is helpful.....

The Pipercross dry foam in mine seems to do the job, and cheap enough to chuck out and replace annually.  Or you can just run some hot water through it every now and then to shift the grit and dust  :happy2:

Re: Spinning sound when clutch pedal is depressed - any ideas what it might be?
Last Poster: Pudding in Technical Workshop on Today at 11:40:00 AM
So clutch pedal pushed down whilst changing gear, and it's making metallic rubbing noise?

Foot off the clutch, all good.  Is that right?

Apart from 2nd, all gears engage smoothly and easily?

How old is the car?

Probably best getting someone with VCDS then. I’m in West Yorkshire, there’s a few people round here that have it so I’ll see if anyone fancies doing it for some beer money before going to the main dealer

Black - you can get away with the colour coding (I can't stand the black skirts and rear valance but that's my personal opinion others may like it)

(Candy white owner here)

Agreed, and plain black as well, not metallic.  Great for touch ups    I've also

Re: Low knocking noise - any suggestions?
Last Poster: Pudding in Mk5 General Area on Today at 09:30:15 AM
Yeah that guide covers it, cheers Mij.  Dead easy  :happy2:   Sensor is around £40 with the VAT if I remember, so not expensive for a part that lasts at least 10 years  :happy2:

Other cars with the same problem is good in a way as there is a definite problem.  Isolated issues are a pain in the neck for diagnosis!

Recently had the thermostat replaced in my stock 05 GTI and now have an intermittent “whistle type cough” on tick over.

Any ideas what this could be _ hoping for an easy/cheap fix

That's good service. I got the TRV's from EPC on mine after the same thing happened. I think those 3 bolts are very exposed to puddles and alike, I think that's why they are so bad, Nearside is normally worse.

      Stasis big brake kit
      Location: Liverpool
      Postage: £12.00
      Delivery or Collection

For sale is my used Stasis 4 pot brake kit. Come with Alcon 4 pot calipers which are probably up there with the best make you can get. I never got round to fitting these but you will most likely need 19" wheels due to the size of the discs or at least 18"s with good clearance.

The kit can be found here: http://www.stasisengineering.com/…/brakes-370-mm-mono4-tta3…

      The kit comprises of:
      - 4 pot Alcon Calipers
      - used 370mm x 32mm 2 piece floating discs with bells
      - used pads
      - Caliper carriers/adapters
      - braided hoses

The calipers are in ok condition. Had a few scraps as you can see from the pics so could do with a refurb. The pistons and seals are fine. The pads have roughly 3/4mm left on them. No cracks in the bells or discs. 26.6mm left in the discs. Sold seen.

Genuine replacement discs can be bought here: https://alconkits.com/stasis-parts or can be sourced from places such as Reyland Motorsport

Will fit golf mk5/mk6, S3, A3, A4, Leon, etc.... most VAG cars with 5x112 hubs.

2007 VW Golf GTi Edition 30 - Black 3dr, high spec & low miles
            Location: Market Harborough, Leicester
            Collection Only

For sale 2007 Golf GTI Edition 30, limited edition number #1091. Completely standard and unmodified example with full service history.

Black 3 door with manual gearbox, this car is in extremely good condition inside and out with only a few marks. The interior is the special edition half leather with no rips or tears to the seat bolsters, is always kept clean and comes from a pet and smoke free home. The front end has some very minor stone chips and the genuine BBS Pescara alloy wheels have some light marking to the edges, but other than that this car is a really fantastic example.

I’m a GTI enthusiast and have owned this car since January 2014, it has been maintained regardless of cost and comes with a very detailed and complete service history - importantly including the cambelt, waterpump, cam chain, cam pulley tensioner, cam follower and diverter valve - Current mileage is 87,600.

The car is HPI clear, comes with both keys, a new MOT (valid until November 2018), and is serviced at least once a year without fail (last serviced 24/11/17). Having searched around before buying for a high spec example, this car comes with the following:

            Factory fitted extras:
RNS510 head unit (with bluetooth handsfree/music, LED display, DVD in motion, voice control)
            Highline dashboard clocks
            MFSW Multi Function Steering Wheel
            iPod dock in centre armrest
            Heated wing mirrors
            Auto window wipers
            Auto dimming rear view mirror
            Front and rear fog lights
Heated height adjustable seats (5 stage)
            Cruise control
            Dual zone climate control
            Factory lightly tinted glass
            Tyre pressure monitoring system

Genuine reason for sale, we are expecting our first child soon and I’m now using the car 5 days a week for work - otherwise I would be keeping it.

If you require any further information please don’t hesitate to ask, feel free to contact me on 07595 830 295. The vehicle is located in Market Harborough - Leicester (LE16), and the first to see will buy - you won't be disappointed.

£8350 ono - No PX offers please.
