Probably depends on how low mileage the GTi is and what spec it is compared to the ED30 and Pirelli. I own a Pirelli with almost 80 k miles and other than a few rattles and stone chips for the age and mileage would stand up against any std GTi

The special editions are very nice and have the subtle body kits that really stand them apart

Also, that sort of miles for the age of car is pretty low mileage

Ed30 for me, in 3 door.  Not a fan of the Pirelli's interior, or it's wheels personally.

It's absolutely personal preference. When looking - I tried a very basic spec 5-dr Pirelli manual, it felt a great car and was my first drive of the mk5 platform. I liked the wheels, and the interior was definitely a bit marmite. Looked better in person and definitely a unique special edition. Am sure these will command a premium in future.
I settled with my ED30 - I know some say the seats are garish, but for me, it is just that bit extra over the GTI (which I would also love). It was the spec of mine that settled it for me.

History and condition are the things that would be important to me if I was looking now. £8k should give you a good choice. All the best with your hunt!

To be honest, they are both great cars, I started to look at ED30's because the choice on spec is better due to the fact there are more of them, and styling aside they are the same car.
I then found the one I currently own (Pirelli) and the spec was entry level, but it had been loved and it felt like the right car to buy, admittedly I have spend ££'s on the items I wanted from the start like xenons, Nav etc..
Like most have said the styling is down to choice, love it or hate it! I like both interiors and the Pirelli wheels are easier to clean.

Very true - the ED30 wheels are very fussy to clean! In terms of spec, I was fortunate that mine came from the factory with Xenon's, cruise, DSG, armrest - but I did add a full FIS dash, MFSW buttons, Kufatech bluetooth module & an RNS510 to bring it a bit more up to date. The only other thing I would like is a sunroof, but you can't easily retrofit that!!

I was exactly the same... I looked at about 8 cars, mix of DSG and manual, prefered the later so focused on those.  Out of the 8 cars only 1 was a Pirelli, very basic spec (literally standard Pirelli, nothing extra) but everything else was perfect (condition, history, the owner was great etc) so I bought it.  Very happy with my choice, and I like that they're very unique.  Only seen two others on the road in the last 18 months since I got mine.   I've added cruise (can't live without it) and an aftermarker Sony Android Auto head unit - Spotify and Google Maps via voice control literally can't be beaten with anything OEM.  I do prefer the look of an OEM unit though.

Really not a fan of interior seats etc but each to their own
