Title: Shaun's GT TDI
Post by: shaunnorris7 on February 11, 2015, 06:55:10 pm
Will say hi again, although I have been on here since the back end of last year when I bought my mk5 I thought now is the time to start my build thread. I've always been into VW's as you can see....

Vento VR6 - one of the best cars I've owned!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2FCIMG0024.jpg&hash=08390a49a79bbe27feeb77c9dcba613f27f4cf0c)

Golf GTI 8v - sh*t car but it didn't look bad!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2FCIMG0055.jpg&hash=227461748e8e110b6b0b68cb30d09c7841f3ee86)

Passat V6 4-Motion - Nice but looked like a 4x4!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F007.jpg&hash=232e7ca0ccb1109189e66a2cfa626d97ae6987b5)

My 2nd Vento VR6 - This was near mint condition, wish I could have kept it as a second project!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2Fthis1.jpg&hash=2e2964943014c27a3baba19a3ac3d06503331977)

First of my Passat estates, both were TDI sport models. This one was lovely!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F1-1.jpg&hash=9d0441e2b0b9491f974241039f632e7cdba4be9b)

After making a few quid off the first one I bought this and started to mod!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20130504_204317_zps652413f1.jpg&hash=6c9d3bdc236d01081c79044a6a6b0caf7c7a6530)

And then onto my mk5, full respray in steel grey. GTI bumpers, R32 rear lights and wheels. Dark GTI headlights with 6k HID kit, LED sidelights and interior lights and cree LED fog bulbs.

Needs lowering I know...

It's a GT TDI 140 but mapped to 175 (approx). I drive nearly 70 miles a day so the diesel suits me more as I can easily get 40-50 mpg.

It came with full heated leather, with drawers underneath. DVD player with built in BT and reversing camera and FBSW. I have since had re-trimmed along with a mk6 gear knob.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2FIMG-20141127-WA0007_zpsaql7o58d.jpg&hash=3c52091edf8e4ace6cfc8eb760f6b7b73134a028)

I have put a new genuine front grill on it as the old one had some broken tabs and wasn't sitting right..

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20141011_155132_zpsywici2uv.jpg&hash=a17817e22966812d484f68c2c9aa96ee95e7d9db)

Future plans are some Eibach street coilovers, fit the black roof lining what's currently in my garage. Rear R32 bumper with no cut outs which is currently on order and transfer the spoiler from this..

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20150211_191225_zpsvpti5dac.jpg&hash=9108b80e050263f1c4f4bd47e79cc9e4073417e3)

So here is my 'to do' list.......

Eibach coilovers (but may get springs for now)
Fit r32 spoiler
Fit r32 rear bumper
Buy ed30 front splitter or buy new bumper with one smoothed in
Fit black roof lining and shark fin aerial
Xenon style headlights
GTI/R32 highline clocks
Replace broken air box and battery tray
Fit k&n panel filter
Custom exhaust

You have a good car history already.

I'm liking your plans except the K&N panel filter, it'll only give more noise and less well filtered air which isn't good for your turbo. Most panel filters even decrease performance.

I'd get the projectors headlights that really improves the front of the car.

Good continuation!

Appreciate the feedback. I have cancelled the K&N as it's on order with the R32 rear section. Will prob just replace with a new genuine one!

On a plus today, I have bought @NathED30 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9702) eibach sportline springs and some genuine R32 pedals off ebay!

Black roof lining going in tomorrow and maybe replacing broken airbox and tray if I get time...

UPDATE...

Black roof lining and pillars etc all went in today. Makes such a big difference when behind the wheel. Plus I get some garage space back!

I am also considering a dash cam, which the old man said he'd buy me for my 30th coming up soon.

Need pics now

Will put some finished pics up tomorrow. Like a wally though I totally forgot to take some 'during' photos.

I also changed my standard aerial for a shark fin type. But I'm now toying with the idea of going DAB and smoothing the roof over at some point.

The early mk5 didn't have some aerials and thing they do look better with out them

And different aerial...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20150218_164801_zpspjofwtce.jpg&hash=937dfb3307b4fbbcdda7708348c65e245bdf07fb)

Still need to sort rear view mirror surround. Don't think it'll come off without breaking something so might just try and pick up an all black one.

For those who noticed the crack, i'm have Autoglass out tomorrow to replace my windscreen with a new genuine one  :happy2:

These landed today courtesy of @NathED30 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9702) so need to buy some new top mounts and drop links before fitting. Should my shocks be ok or it is adviserble to change these too?
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20150218_160329_zpslpmi99dl.jpg&hash=4a64680cf7f603ad03f47db82f5cf407c09e1029)

I should mention the car is currently on 146k (I bought if from it's first owner and it has full dealer service history). I've probably just answered my previous question but always greatful for others advice.

On another plus I also fitted these earlier...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20150218_164223_zpsefqoyvpo.jpg&hash=2faa13fdd13196c70f01b8545855f90fd9415194)

And a quick shot of the steering wheel and mk6 gear knob...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20150218_164303_zpsqrxn35js.jpg&hash=33c3b37cd5eb36efb7330dfd19724ee6ee2cc98c)

**Apologies of quality of photos but I'm not into photography and my phone camera's lense in broken**

Yeah, it's time to put new shocks as well, if you can.

Have you looked into DIY about fitting auto-dimming rear view mirrors? They should explain how to remove your current mirror.

Will have to see if shocks have already been changed or are originals.

What about drop links, do I need adjustable or shorter ones?

For those springs I think the OEM are enough.

UPDATE

Eibachs fitted over the weekend with new top mounts and drop links.

Also had a cv boot replaced and applied some settings via VCDS like lock and unlock of doors, length of time coming home lights stay on for etc and boot pop (for when I get struts).

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20150302_152044_zpsufwztsvm.jpg&hash=1cd2fa566c5020814ef642052c95ee714aa1040c)

Thanks mate,  Awesome GTI claim the drop is 20-25 mm but I think it's a bit more than that.

As it's a daily driver and sees 70 miles every day I need to stay sensible

Boot pop installed, but I'm having trouble with it. Hopefully its just because the struts are new and are stiff but when I'm popping it, it won't fully open until the 3rd attempt. The boot hinges have had a light greasing (spray) but it didn't really make much difference.

I have played with the adjustable stops but for it to pop properly every time they stick out too far and make the tailgate out of alignment around the lights etc.

They have been installed as per the youtube videos where the tailgate was shut then the bump stops brought out by 2 clicks.

Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem to start with...

Thanks mate, though its nothing compared to most on here.

Got the springs off here, was lucky as they were BNIB and a good price.

I'm having second thoughts now about the R32 rear. If I can cancel it on monday I think I will.

Not much of an update but I cancelled the R32 rear.

Gave it a good clean with the Juicy bits I picked up at Ultimate Dubs.

I had the help of my mate who's an Audi technician. He could have done it in his sleep but he took his time and let me help lol. Def a 2-man job when actually getting the lining in. Looking back now I suppose I could have removed the old one by myself and from then on had an idea of how to put the black one in but he said to wait and he'd do it...

I have read a few horror stories such as the windscreen cracking.

Nice update re the black headlining, i nearly bought one earlier this week but decided against it for now.
I have also the cream edging around my rear view mirror, have you had any luck swapping it for a black one?

Thanks mate, its nothing compared to most on here but its coming along nicely. She drives nice, my route to work consists of some bumpy B-roads so have to take it steady else the splitter scrapes sometimes. But generally very good and a massive improvement from stock. There is some sportline springs in the for sale section if you haven't already got some. You should snap them up as there a cheaper price than I paid for mine!

Its still cream at the moment but is on my ever growing list of this to do. I'll probably just buy a complete black one and swap them over.

Very small update. Had a full service last Saturday at Audi Peterborough and today as I was bored I thought I'd lamin-X the front fogs. The passenger side lens is cracked but you can't really tell. I have more than enough left to do another when I replace it. Over all, pleased with the outcome and should offer them a bit of protection.

Will get wheels refurbished and already ordered new caps!

Still bedding brakes in but they look awesome. There the Cupra 345mm set up with Tarox discs and pads.

Need to flare arches as they ocasionally scrape but nothing too major. Would prefer to keep them on 235 tyres.

Need to sort my EGR as it's a bit juddery at the moment.

Also picked this bargain up...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2FIMG-20150808-WA0000_zpsfhzvzymh.jpg&hash=67b219eff6214faf89832776d885931784b9feeb)

All fixings mint, plus ED30 splitter. Going to smooth the inserts out and get on when I get a chance.

When I've washed it I'll get some better pics and some of the VW Racing intake and R32 clocks.

Cheers Andy, I think the skirts change the whole look.

Not 100% what I'm going for yet. Have considered a 300bhp overhaul or maybe just an exhaust and map til after my wedding.

Yeah I was thinking of doing the same going 300bhp but the cost is he factor. .am running 220bhp at the moment and getting a dark side kit
£2500 for the turbo
£1000 clutch
£800 injectors
£400 for the map

Yes your right the cost is the main factor but i'm planning on keeping this for a long time so we'll see.

It's approx 170 bhp at the min but I have no printout.

I've never had an issue with the beam, just the bloody connections getting water in them no matter how much I try to tape it all up.

Stopped to fill up at the Shell garage in Buckden on the way home. Just as I finished and was walking in to pay a Skyline of some description pulled up (really not my cup of tea but I know they have a large following). As I'm in the queue to pay I heard 3 lads (in there early 20's I'd say) saying how smart this car looked etc. Naturally I asume there on about this Skyline, but after I've paid and walked outside there all stood by my car with one of them taking a photo of it. I think I suprised them when I unlocked it and walked up to them from behind but they said how they loved the colour and wheels.

I said thanks as I got in and drove off smirking.

Also is the ED30 or Gti rear lower valance

Rob, the rear valance is from a GTI.

As for the heating controls, I'm still unsure myself tbh. After seeing @marko (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6386) changing his to a mk6 I instantly wanted to do the same but after messaging him it turns out that the mk6 can not operate the air-con.

Not sure if there is one which will do it, maybe @Eddie-NL (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2345) could resolve this for me  :happy2:

And if it can be done, how does the heated seats work. I currently have 5 heat settings but the mk6 only has 3 lights? Does it just convert 5 to 3?

Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

Another problem with heater controls is the operation of vents on mk5 is manual compared to all electronic on mk6..
Trust me ..it can't be done without taking dash out and changing everything.

My friend who fitted my OPS sensors, RVC and the lot, made this retrofit to his Golf and a couple more cars, but it's an expensive retrofit for just having auto AC that can be upgraded to newer version that displays in the RNS/RCD-510 screen.

So I had the EGR cleaned today.

It was quite bad but wasn't stuck. BUT the juddering is still there at low speeds (20-30mph).

After running vagcom the only fault was a camshaft sensor so getting that, cam belt and water pump done on Saturday.

Could that be causing the juddering though?

Any ideas anyone?

Yes there tucked up safe for winter now. Already bought a new set of centre caps and they will be refurbed and treated to some 225's before going back on.

Although the 19's look better/fill the arches more, for me the 18's feel so much better especially on my 32 mile drive to work (A & B roads)  :driver:

But if a good set of heated wingbacks comes up I know I won't be able to resist

Not long now til Darkside...

Am on the verge of getting some R32 rear brakes sorted with matching Tarox discs.
Also maybe a smoothed R32 rear bumper and R32 seats (not wingbacks).

But why is finding a good condition arm rest so bloody hard!

Hit the 160k mark today and still running sweet as a nut!

Not going to bother with the R32 rear and the interior was advertised by a total pr*ck so will probably just get rear brakes and exhaust etc done this side of Xmas now.

And I'm on the hunt for another Vento...

Back home after my trip to Darkside. Really pleased with the quality of work and service they offered.

Here's the print out after the map and various timing tweeks on there dyno.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii178%2Fshaunnorris7%2F20151110_203253_zpsenulucox.jpg&hash=b4275f16c8cda5565b4d5a9ab3d548547f8804d8)

I knew it was already mapped but wanted there map as they were removing the EGR. So wasn't expecting loads more horse power. Was nice to see a slight gain but more importantly how smooth it now runs and the noise it makes when it goes 2500rpm +  :happy2:

When it was in at Darkside they said one of my rear shocks was very slightly leaking. As they are all still original with 160k on them I shall change them all in 1 hit. So they have been ordered this morning.

Also today I am going to order a Whiteline front and rear anti roll bar with there adjustable drop links and anti lift kit.

Then it can all be fitted when I have my 310mm rear brake upgrade

Slight change of plan. For now I have opted to keep my current rear calipers and just freshen then up with matching Tarox discs and pads.

Still on the look out for the 310mm rear calipers and carriers..

Oh and did I mention wingbacks

All married now so I thought what better way to celebrate than to spend some more money on the car  :happy2:

Helio's dropped off today for full Refurb.

Front bumper with ED30 splitter dropped off at body shop.

Booked in for audio upgrade on Thursday 5th May!!

In the mean time I need to get some little bits sorted. Need a new boot seal and boot trim. Replacement centre console vent top section and arm rest insert.

A lot more progress over the next few weeks..

When I get my rear calipers back from being refurbed, they'll be fitted with matching Tarox discs/pads and new rear shocks and my freshened up Helio's which I'm collecting start of next week.

Managed to pick up a new centre vent section as the slats on mine are broken, brand new boot seal and trim panel as mine is cracked and it can all be done when the custom sub box is being installed.

Not heard anything back about my bumper yet but will get all the above sorted first as the car will probably have to go in for a couple of days as there's some other bits I'm getting tidied up.

Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a R32 rear valance (black bit ONLY) to a GTI bumper. IE keeping the smoothness of the GTI but having 2 central exhausts?

Not a direct fit or I wouldn't imagine it being easy. A plastic welder might be able to do it.

The black bits obviously come apart from the lower part of the bumper right??

I've been studying the shape and to me they look the same, might have to pick one up and try it.

R32 exausts would look smart on a GTI bumper. Something I've not seen before...

It's just easier to get a R32 rear valance replica off ebay or from online stores (PPCBG, for example). I prefer that style to a smooth valance with 2 cuts for the exhaust tips...

It's all one mould on the GTI. I see what you're thinking, but it'd be a proper pain to do it right.

You'd have to cut the lower section off the GTI bumper, then try and bodge the R32 bit to fit. Not good.

Bear in mind a proper R32 lower section (body colour bit) has a much nicer, deeper shape than a GTI rear. It's not just the exhausts that look good!

Get a genuine R32 rear and do it reet.

Post by: Shoduchi on April 23, 2016, 06:46:13 pm
Yeah, only the lower bit of the R32 valance comes off, the GTI valance is one piece and I think they have a different shape. I'm not saying it's impossible, just too hard to make it worth the effort.

Yeah I know what your both saying and as much as I like to do things a little bit differently I definitely prefer to do things properly.

I have seen R32 lower sections minus the black valance though.. so they must come apart.

But I may just stick with my original plan of my GTI with no cut outs.
Title: Re: Shaun's GT TDI
Post by: Shoduchi on April 23, 2016, 06:54:45 pm
Like we both said, only the R32 valance has 2 pieces. The GTI is just 1 piece.

You can also consider this option:

It's the Golf GT Sport R-Line rear valance, which is the same as the Edition 30 valance but without cut outs. The original part should be rare to get in 2nd hand. A new part should cost the same as the Ed. 30. You also consider a replica.

Ordered the module control cover today to cover the amp being installed next week under the passenger seat.

Checked on bumper earlier but he's not started it unfortunately so booked car in with him on May 23rd to get it done.

Going back to standard GTI headlights as at some point will smooth out the removable trim pieces. So the Depo's will be up for sale soon.
Also picked up a GT Sport front grill set for when bumper goes on as I love the pic of the red one on the end of the calender ad (top of page).
If anyone has a link to it, please share.

Picking up Helio's tomorrow or Friday so photos will follow..

The Nankangs are too noisy for my liking so will be looking at changing them soon. Might try the Vredestein Ultra Vorti are have only read good reviews about them.

Once the R32 rear calipers go on and the paint work sorted towards end of month I'm in 3 minds..

1. Back to Darkside for more power. (My preference but will cost the most).
2. Air-Ride.
3. Get it wrapped.

Dropped the car off earlier for ICE install. Luckily the trim which fills the gap under the passenger seat turned up today so it will cover amp.

Will get car back Saturday afternoon so will post some pics.

On another note, the Helio's just aren't riding well. Mainly cus of the tyres. Will bare it for another week whilst 18's are refurbed in same style and re-rubbered then they will be swapped back to have Vredestein's fitted or sold to fund part of Darkside cost...

I have decided to sell the Helio's

Advertised them on eBay and Wheel Whores so hopefully they will get snapped up quickly..

Will get the Khartoums refurbed and some different tyres on then the money from the Helio's will pay for a good chunk of the air-ride  :driver:

Just waiting for my matching one from bold sport to complete the look.

Hoping to have air ride for GTI International..

See the ED30 bumper all primed in the booth made me go weak at the knees  :signLOL:

Can't wait to get it back. Only question is do I keep the GTI grills on or revert back to the GT ones

Yeah they look good and goes very well with the splitter. I was thinking of buying the R-Line fog inserts but quite like how it is now so they'll go to the bottom of the list. Nah not putting any other badges on.

Finally sorted some 215 tyres for the Helio's for when it goes in for air ride!

Phil has said that the 19's will only fit with this size but the downside is the load is less than the vehicle requires.

Therfore I may just run them for shows / nice weather weekends and get some Pilot Sports to replace the winter tyres on the Karthoums for daily use.

And because they're 8J ET50 they will tuck more than the Helio's  :happy2:

So since having the air-ride installed the golfs been on the back burner and I've surprisingly fallen out of love with it, despite giving it a thorough cleaning session over the bank holiday weekend.

I've secretly been looking at Mercedes A200 CDI Sports with the AMG kit on which have taken my fancy at the min but as the golfs ticked over 175k now it makes sense for me to just keep running it as it is worth far more to me than anyone else. (Nothing wrong with how its running, in fact its spot on!)

It needs MOTing at the end of the month and then taxing so will get them both done and hopefully my love for it will be back by then.

I've decided to not bother fitting the R32 rear so that will be up for sale soon. After looking at many I would now rather keep it how it is for now though could be tempted to fit a ED30 front splitter and some new front wings.

Decided I'm going to keep the Helio's. Will have to refurb 2 of them and re-tyre them for next year but will get the wings and ED30 splitter sorted at the same time and try to get it down to Ultimate Dubs in March.

Sourced a very good condition complete front bumper and grills from another GT TDI last night.

Going to drop it all off at the body shop and have the inserts and plate plinth removed and smoothed. Then at the end of March when I'm away leave the car with them to fit and sort wings etc.

Might even shave the roof aerial as it isn't connected to anything and get the roof wrapped

Recently ticked over 185k and still going strong

It went in for a service and oil change last week where a coolant leak was found so having a new pipe and tank fitted shortly.

Bought a new scuttle panel (complete with seal and foam inserts) and windscreen trims from VW so will get them on as soon as I can along with the door warning lights I've had in my garage for ages.

I also bought (but yet to receive) a mod to convert my rear lights to skyline/veyron style with twindicators which should look really good.. fingers crossed!

Took it to 2 body shops for some prices, first one has a very good reputation but my god there prices were way too expensive. So hoping to keep the current arches and just get the lips rolled up. Need to order an ED30 splitter for when it goes in (end of this month) as when it comes out I think I may get it wrapped!!

Will try to update this more often as it's all been in dribs and drabs.

I received my rear light mod in today's post and was not happy!! Could tell what they were going to be like just by the packaging  :sad1:

OK the lenses are genuine but they're scratched to f**k and haven't been sealed back together very well. I contacted the seller who just replied "send them back". He said he'll refund but I'm covered by paypal incase things turn sour.

Pissed off, will leave this mod for now..

Not the first time this has been mentioned  :sad1: would have though the amount of units he has sold that he would have been able to achieve a better finish by now.

Looking forward to seeing the update Shaun! I really like the look of your winter wheels on the Mk5, may have to pick up a set. I fall out of love with my black Audi rotors (on my black car) at least a few times per month. I've still not go my GTI bumper and copy Ed30 splitter fitted, how much was the genuine splitter?

Cheers

Back from holiday so went to check on golf to find he might need it for another week

New wings are on and roof aerial hole smoothed but front bumper inserts are still to be smoothed and splitter to be fitted.

Will pick Helio's up on Wednesday and arrange for arch enemy to come and roll new wings before wrap goes on  :happy2:

Will be keeping them mate. The tyres need replacing so once the Helio's are back on I'll get them refurbed and re-tyred ready for next winter.

Over the weekend I noticed a fine line where the insert had been smoothed out on the drivers side (you can't see it in the photo above). I laid a wrap sample over it and it is noticeable so need to get it back in quickly as hoping to have Arch Enemy out on Thursday to roll lips on new wings then Autoglass on Friday before being wrapped the following week.

Seriously starting to stress me out but I know it'll be worth it in the end!

So today Phil from Arch Enemy came out to my work address and rolled the lips up on the new arches. Very pleased with the outcome!

It was nice to drive it properly again as only done a couple of miles in it within the last couple of weeks.

Please excuse the various colours of the bodywork.. it'll look alot different this time next week  :happy2:

Autoglass were here at 7.45, had a decent guy who took pride in his job and even refused a tip!

So it now has a nice new windscreen, scuttle panel & seal, wiper arms and blades  :happy2:

I do also have new trims which go either side of the screen but leaving them off for the wrap..

Not a fan of the colour (it's definitely exclusive) but the quality of the service looks spot on! :happy2:

PS: Your Golf has my favourite colour so I wouldn't want to change it.

Thanks for the input, I must admit the wheels look different in the pics as the car is sitting higher. I can't wait to pick it up later and air it out

Regarding the grills, I've been down the GTi route before and much prefer the GT ones. As for the badge, there's a new one going on and staying chrome... for now!

So after picking it up last night I am more than happy. If anyone is wanting anything wrapping or detailing then Deepshine is definitely the place to go!!

Few things to tidy up, replace the wing mirror indicator lenses with smoked ones (current ones are standard what have previously been sprayed) and a MK6 boot mechanism.

NSR bearing changed last night so a nice drive to work today with no warning lights on.

Also, my rear wiper and front screen wash had stopped working but luckily it was just a fuse.

Insurance due in June, then possibly another trip to Darkside  :happy2:

Went back to DSD yesterday evening to see Adi and Carlo. They wrapped over wrap my bonnet as I could see a filler patch through the vinyl. The second layer soon made that dissapear and will also provide more protection against stone chips  :happy2:

Carlo also fitted my new black side repeaters  :drinking:

As there seems to be no clubstand at Inters this year I emailed them to see where I could park as wanted to show my car. The only thing they could suggest was the Show 'n' Shine!!

So on Saturday evening it'll be getting the clean of its life (not expecting to win as its got nearly 190k on it but want it to hold its own amongst the trailer queens).

Once that is done I'm going to have it off the road for a week so I can send the front calipers off to be refurbed and ceramic coated to match the rears and also send my seat belts off. I have found a company who will change the belt to the black with red edges (Edition 35 style I believe) for £150 + VAT. I have had a sample and have seen some red ones they've done for a friend

Then some 42DD bushes/short shift kit and a mk6 tailgate mechanism.

For the fact it is on 190k, it looks Amazing!! Even if it was on less than half that it looks great! Let us know how you get on at the show'n'shine.  :drinking:

Sounds like some cool mods coming too.

Pic from Inters today. Had a really good day and the venue was an excellent choice!
The silver ED30 you can see the rear of won best mk5, but was nice to hear people's comments as they looked round my car.

I still think there should have been a category for mk5s with over 180k

Had found a few and was keen on one local to me but since found a newer and higher spec one. Going to view Sunday evening and put a deposit down if its as described as the seller needs to take his plate off and has agreed to put 12 months MOT on it for the right price.

Bit of a different car to the Golf.. 2010 Audi A6 3.0TDI Le Mans Avant in Daytona Grey

Just read through the whole build with a tear in my eye.

They Audi has now gone, had it bang on a year.. it was lovely and so powerful (had it Revo'd) but now back in the Golf game.

After a mint GT TDI with DSG. They are holding there money very well and amazed how many for sale with near to 200k which is a credit to the engine  :congrats:

Or a nice mk6 GTD as I know I won't spend as much on it  :happy2:

Bit of an update.. (still no photos, will sort when clean and after next weeks work).

Genuine monzas purchased and fully refurbed.
Black headlining all installed.
ED30 rear lights installed.
ED30 calipers purchased and refurbed by Jonny at BCR.
Custom sub box with 10" slimline sub, amp and  Pioneer DAB headunit installed.
Interior dash trim dipped in dark carbon fibre.
Booked in next Monday at AKS for H&R Monotubes and Vagbram GTI brakes all round.

After that just need to tidy up a couple of body work issues then all done  :happy2:

Hi Chris.. it was from a breakers local to me. They had a mint GTI which had some front end damage. Most goodies were gone else I would have had more but was happy with the headlining complete with all fittings and mirror for £120  :happy2:

Picked it up from AKS on Friday after having the H&R Monotubes fitted with TTRS top mounts, Vagbrem discs all round along with the refurbed ED30 calipers I had previously bought.
First impressions on the Monotubes are excellent! Will definitely get some on the Vento next year

Thinking of selling the Monzas as I've found a nice set of 19" BBS's but no rush.

Future plans are to get a Revo map next time its at AKS and sort some body work issues (respray bonnet, sort bubbling wing, R32 style rear with no exhaust, side skirts and ED30 splitter).

Will see winter out then will tidy bodywork and add a splitter and skirts  :happy2:

Recently MOT'd with no major issues and was serviced yesterday at Peterborough Audi.

Can recommend the H&R Monotube coilovers enough.. even had a set fitted on the Vento since  :happy2:

Still need to sort some paintwork issues out which will be done in the next few months at a local bodyshop but other than that all good, went past 150k a few weeks ago.

The golf will be up for sale soon as making way for an Audi A7

Will more than likely return to standard so wheels, coilovers, rear lights, R32 pedals, headunit & sub/box and steering wheels etc will all be available soon.

Keep your eye out in the for sale section or if you want to jump the que.. drop me a txt 07415974278

Coilovers have been awesome so will be a bargain for someone  :happy2:
