The engine just conked out and now it wont start took it to a garage and they said it needs a new engine i asked why and thats what they assume , i dont want to replace engine if its not needed can any1 help or give me some ideas ? The cambelt hasnt snapped i looked through the plastic cover , possibly slipped who knows ?

Id say the oil pump drive has failed buddy common prob on mk5 Axx engines drive cog collapses thus no oil pressure , can be ok if sorted on time ie chain rattle looks as if yours hasnt , new engine is lookin like the only option fella :sad1: :sad1:

Yer i boughy an engine last night for £1100 on ebay with turbo etc and mechanics going to fit it for £150 once it arrives might service it before the engine goes in

Do
All the servicing on the floor
Mate belt water pump etc plus I'd be doing the cam chain & tensioner while your there . Do no harm to drop the sump check the oil pump drive & clean the lift pipe ..
Hope it works out for you mate 👍👍
