Will do!  I hope this hasn't come across too dramatic and alarmist.  If it's happened to me, it's sure to happen to someone else...unless I am the unluckiest man in the world and got the one and only dud

Besides the silicon pad thing, I didn't find it to be fit and forget.  Occasionally the piston would start binding, causing part throttle surging.  I had to str

"Defo not fit and forget.  The vulcanized bond to the piston is a bit weak.  It may not affect everybody but as mine is a daily, problems surface sooner for me."

I appreciate we shouldn't be having to fettle this , rather it should be down to GFB but, if they're not willing to rectify the

Don’t have that specific one, but have a similar one for up to i think 6 litre, depending on quality they can be either good or bad had one blow up in the car put it like that.

Unless you put cars away for the winter there’s no real point as if you ever need it for your own it’ll probably go flat just sitting in your boot (electronics with batteries are best stored at 5

Thanks  :happy2:   These absolutely transform a GTI as a road car   Comfortable but still very capable.  Could probably do with a bit more spring for the track, but otherwise epic  :happy2:  I hope you love your ASTs too!

Yeah DSG..... I think I need to do it.  I'm getting bored of changing gears myself!

@Shoduchi - Man, seems that my KNC gearbox which should be the same age as yours has 25T parking brake. I was about the sent the diff back to Darkside Developments, but they said it is better to wait and look. My mechanic opened the gearbox today and said it has 25T. :jumping: :jumping: :jumping:

Last Poster: Pudding in Product Reviews on Today at 04:28:42 PM
Yeah probably!

I know I come across a bit man against the world sometimes.  I just don't like seeing consumers being ripped off with shoddy goods at premium prices.   £500 isn't throw away money for anyone.  You kind of expect a certain quality at that price.  Not even a brand new OEM airbox costs anywhere near that much, but it's 10x the quality!

Mine move as in wobble over bumps, but I can't see the auto levelling working during driving.   That is only noticeable when you switch them on and it runs the test cycle.

Wobbling over bumps appears to be normal for some xenons.  I saw a Jaguar in my rear view doing that recently.  I feel his pain as it's bloody irritating!!

Re: injector cleaning
Last Poster: Pudding in Mk5 General Area on Today at 03:54:08 PM
A cleaner won't do anything unfortunately.  You can get them ultrasonically cleaned in a chemical bath, but personally I believe replacement is the proper fix.  The solenoids inside them can get a bit lazy on top of the usual pintle clogging issues, so best to start afresh.

It may not be the injectors.  Mine were replaced ~40K with new ones from the dealer, and it was wa

Yep that looks like a RCD 330 alright. The App button suggests that it's the B Variant which means slightly more RAM than the original version and Smartphone connectivity though check the firmware to see if you got either the stock version (Apple CarPlay & Baidu CarLife) or the modified one (Full App Connect - Apple Carplay/MirrorLink/Android Auto). Installation is basically swap o

Lol, yeah that is a good description   So yours is struggling to get out of bed it seems, so slightly different problems.   Could be fuel, could be spark.....hard to tell sometimes.

Starting up and then cutting out immediately is classic immobiliser failure, but there are no fault codes for that.   I'll use my second key for a while and see if that helps.

Last Poster: f00glee in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on Today at 01:01:42 PM

You can turn it off with VCDS

Courtesy wipe or something it's called.

It's an after wipe to clear away residual drips, as per the rear wash/wipe.   A bit like that final wipe of

Mine packed up recently after I noticed temp was dropping a couple of bars on my A3 London-South Coast run, and got it replaced a couple of weeks ago. There was a mix up with the part i.e. the thermostat was ordered, rather than the thermostat and the housing, which meant a few extra days without the car. Anyhow, car actually feels as though it's driving better now, and MPG has als

Weird it hasent done it since?ive orderd a pick up pipe anyway

You could have just cleaned the gauze. It's made from stainless steel so a blast from a pressure washer and a clean in IPA would have done it.

Re: Mk5 gti noisey
Last Poster: Pudding in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on Today at 09:35:59 AM
For me it's the chassis noise that is prehistoric now, compared to modern standards.    The MK5 was the GTI's return to handling and driver enjoyment, and as such, the suspension bushings are a lot smaller to reduce slop and the top mounts are bolted to the chassis, whereas MK2 - MK4 had 'floating' top mounts for comfort.   It all adds up to a thumpy, crashy, noisy experience over
