Re: Sluggish Cold Starts
Last Poster: antonis42 in Mk5 General Area on Today at 10:07:29 PM
mine did this for a while, deteriorated to cranking twice for startup.
turns out it was the fuel filter - has a valve in it -it was not sealing properly,
so would let fuel seap back to the fuel tank and hence no proper pressure for startup. made the lpfp work overtime.
hope this helps

Re: Potential fault - GFB DV+
Last Poster: jhook661 in Mk5 General Area on Today at 09:06:22 PM
I had a gfb+ fitted prior to mapping with the tte420.....and it got taken off straight away due to issues ( not by me either) and refitted with a rev g valve and fixed my boosting issues so the people raving about them must be the lucky ones which have one what actually works
I'm not convinced by these I've had 3 now and they've made the car feel different....

One of my questions was "is it safe to remap a car with 114k miles on it?

Try some mitre mate or evo stick type stuff glue with the spray as the reactor. Very strong stuff.
Even tho you shouldn’t have to.

I wouldn't have thought a loose CV boot would be heavy enough to cause an imbalance but yeah, hopefully it is that simple!  Hope the CV joint isn't buggered either from running dry!

Yip me to , time will tell .

Re: Mk5 gti noisey
Last Poster: Ant b in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on Today at 07:57:29 PM
MK5s are a bit noisy. There is hardly any sound absorbing material in them.  You can add some though, as I have done.

6th feels fine to me. Any taller and it would be sluggish to accelerate. If anything I want much shorter gears!!

My Revo intake is quite noisy as well, but I’ve

I had one before my ed30. The sound is amazing and launch is great too but they don't feel too quick after that. Fuel economy wasn't too bad if driven sensible. They are very front heavy so cornering isn't great on them too. I had a suitcase resonator delete and sounded sexy. Not too loud.

If you want a cheaper alternative get the Audi a3... 3.2L as it's pretty much the

Anyway I think they fit really well, Here are a couple of pics from various angles.

From what I see you can change springs fairly easy if you ever decide to go to the track. And I believe Ohlins have a good range to choose from....being Ohlins, but I've driven fuscobal's car this summer (he was active here long time ago) and I know that they are superb on track in the original configuration. :driver:
Unfortunately u cannot hire someone to change gears, you ne

Last Poster: willni in Mk5 General Area on Today at 04:46:19 PM
Don’t have that specific one, but have a similar one for up to i think 6 litre, depending on quality they can be either good or bad had one blow up in the car put it like that.

Unless you put cars away for the winter there’s no real point as if you ever need it for your own it’ll probably go flat just sitting in your boot (electronics with batteries are best stored at 5

@Shoduchi - Man, seems that my KNC gearbox which should be the same age as yours has 25T parking brake. I was about the sent the diff back to Darkside Developments, but they said it is better to wait and look. My mechanic opened the gearbox today and said it has 25T. :jumping: :jumping: :jumping:

Re: VibraTechnics 'Fast Road' Engine Mounts (manual) - 2 x sides and 1 x dogbone
Last Poster: Pudding in Product Reviews on Today at 04:28:42 PM
Yeah probably!

I know I come across a bit man against the world sometimes.  I just don't like seeing consumers being ripped off with shoddy goods at premium prices.   £500 isn't throw away money for anyone.  You kind of expect a certain quality at that price.  Not even a brand new OEM airbox costs anywhere near that much, but it's 10x the quality!

Re: Flickering Xenon headlights
Last Poster: Pudding in Technical Workshop on Today at 04:00:25 PM
Mine move as in wobble over bumps, but I can't see the auto levelling working during driving.   That is only noticeable when you switch them on and it runs the test cycle.

Wobbling over bumps appears to be normal for some xenons.  I saw a Jaguar in my rear view doing that recently.  I feel his pain as it's bloody irritating!!

Re: injector cleaning
Last Poster: Pudding in Mk5 General Area on Today at 03:54:08 PM
A cleaner won't do anything unfortunately.  You can get them ultrasonically cleaned in a chemical bath, but personally I believe replacement is the proper fix.  The solenoids inside them can get a bit lazy on top of the usual pintle clogging issues, so best to start afresh.

It may not be the injectors.  Mine were replaced ~40K with new ones from the dealer, and it was wa

Yep that looks like a RCD 330 alright. The App button suggests that it's the B Variant which means slightly more RAM than the original version and Smartphone connectivity though check the firmware to see if you got either the stock version (Apple CarPlay & Baidu CarLife) or the modified one (Full App Connect - Apple Carplay/MirrorLink/Android Auto). Installation is basically swap o
