Mk5 General Area / Re: Damaged driver door / dent costing
« Last post by Clarkj93 on March 17, 2024, 05:09:29 pm »
Looks like the sill is actually dented which you won't be able to just pop out from behind like with the door, it's thick steel and a substantial part of the chassis. Might be able to mess around with the side skirt and lightly tap around it/on it to hide it as much as possible though. The door outer skin comes off as a singl piece so should be able to be sorted pretty simply.

Mk5 General Area / Damaged driver door / dent costing

Well just had the misfortune of scrapping my car door against a pillar in a car park - had better sunday afternoons. Any ideas on cost to fix in south east London (Eltham area). The paintwork isn’t too bad ie can live with but the dent on the door and to a lesser extentthe frame at the bottomis going to need a fix.

Mk5 General Area / Re: What did you and your MKV do today?

Thanks.

Yes a marked improvement. It feels stronger the car, even when hot....hard to explain.

Boost gauge at idle used to read between -0.6 to -0.7 vacuum. Now reads a solid -0.8 so those bayonet connectors were def loosing boost for me before.

Mk5 General Area / Door skins
« Last post by Jellybeanandrea on March 16, 2024, 09:01:02 pm »
Hi guys,

My door skins on my Mk5 are starting with rusting along the bottom. Does anyone know where I can buy replacement door skins that are already primed?

Thanks

Andrea

Yes can see a couple of drop out where the rpm drops to 0, crank sensor should fix it, let us know
I have replaced it today but didnt have a lot of time to do the testing. Did only a couple of hard accelerations hitting the rev limiter and seems to be ok. Im not yet 100% sure its fixed but ill report in "some" time and let people know.
Btw visually there wasnt anything wrong with the sensor

Engine code on boot sticker and cam belt cover BYD
Stitched steering wheel with flat bottom
Stitched gear lever gaiter
K04 turbo with DV relocation ( the DV is under the bonnet between engine and battery, rather than hidden on the turbo )
Might have a plaque on end of dash but not all were fitted
Colour coded bottom section of bumpers and sideskirts with extended front lip on front bumper
One thing hard to fake it will say 169kw on the V5 log book for engine data

I'm sure there's other bits.

Mine came with a letter from VW with all the options printed out including the option of Edition 30. I'm sure your local dealer would check on their system for you to see if its a genuine Ed30 from the vin.

Good work  :happy2:  I wanted to relocate the battery on mine as well, to make room for the much bigger TTS air box, but never got around to it!
