Hi Hurdy

I will run it if you pull the diff plug prior to it going on the dyno and sign an additional disclaimer . BUT, I will not take any responsibility for any damage to the car.  The dyno readings we also be off, so don't have a  :sad1: on, if the numbers are low

....Thanks, Rob  - I have spoken with JKM and they want to cap it at 20 runners so that enough time is then available for the remaps afterwards.

So, no Briskoda posting needed this time  :drinking:

There is a slim but nonzero chance I will turn up to this to say hello.

There is an even slimmer (but still nonzero) chance I will also want my car remapped to REVO, like I've been threatening to do for ages; I'll debate tonight and will confirm with JKM if it is possible in the next couple of days.

There is a yet more slim (but also nonzero) chance I will be in Nottingham making an ill-advised purchase of a Dodge Dakota pickup truck. So there's that.

No she ran 298bhp last time out,but Dynos will never match, but the torque curve on both Dynos where identical. Not fused about the head figures, but the way she drives is fantastic, and suffers very little traction issues.  :happy2:

Look foward to seeing you again bud  :happy2:

Be good to see you too Steve. What did the Eddy do on the dyno at R-Tech?

331bhp, was run in 5th gear, whereas JKM run in 4th, which can slighty effect the Dynos calculation apparently according to some?

Torque curves were identical on each persons graphs supplied though. :happy2:

Work needs me to do a stock take tomorrow.
I told them where to go. Got something better to do !
Last time, 2 years ago, at JKM my Cupra made 226 bhp with OEM intercooler. Some sort of custom map that was already on the car when i bought it.
Since then i've added a forge FMIC and a couple of other bits.
Looking forward to this and a proper REVO map.  :happy2:

Just been reading through previous dyno day results at JKM.....Steve P did just over 348 on his APR stage 3 car and DanGB did 367bhp on his stage 3 Leon......tough dyno to not get 370 with a GT2871 is a sure sign big bhp is hard to come by!

JKM lads had to strap it down even more as it nearly climbed out of the dyno

Jim said it probably dropped around 15bhp due to the prop losses.

Well, here is my graph. Dunno why the power dropped off on the high boost run, definitely doesn't feel like it drops off on the road and was still making power at 7krpms at R-Tech. Maybe it is because shoot out mode at JKM uses look up tables an R-Techs measures the actual losses on each run. Anyway the main thing for me was that it was a great day with a good turn out and I think as many people had as much fun in my R as they did watching their cars run!

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ft8%2Fhurdy_album%2F44267e1e39a3c08d8406b5293b12edb8_zps99ef7510.jpg&hash=0c713ee26188db0053ea16eec346a2a531ef1475)
And R-Techs for comparison.

Still won't hit the 300bhp, but issue is running on the stock OEM Intercooler.

As soon as it hit 298 at 6k, power appeared to die away, which doesn't do it on the road. So my Engine was getting too hot on the Dyno and pulling everything back  :sad1: looking at the curve would of been heading towards 315-320bhp.
K04 power doesn't tail off like that, so I'm not worried about the end result as she's fine on the road.

My friend Alex came down in his E46 351bhp dyno'd M3 SMG , and ask him if he could catch me from 50mph on.. Was left miles behind on route down ,and by quite along distance much to his surprise :signLOL:

Very good day out, topped off with a shall we say memorable trip out in Johns Loba Golf R, which in launch mode, had me struggling to keep blood in my brain!!
The car can be best described as a Catapult on wheels...awesome bit of kit, and certainly sounded nice on the way home following  :innocent:

The peaks out very soon steve... should make its peak BHP after 6000RPM. And 30bhp between dynos??? I never understand that....

Whether this is right or not, my car has been set up on a different dyno, with a different and more powerful cooling method that is done at RTech, which I think my OEM cooler with a stronger or more natural airflow would allow power to develop. My ECU started to pull things back as what the graph shows. What seems to happen, as what did with Hurdys car, and another RTECH tuned Audi S3 was all our cars power started to drop off quite a lot ,johns car didn't sound right on the dyno.I'm pretty sure Statlers cooling fan is more powerful.

All the JKM cars that were tuned were all set up on that dyno, so maps tuned tuned to that air volume and flow.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm9.staticflickr.com%2F8393%2F8640282893_c79157db3a_b.jpg&hash=a05bb2be00e127cdd5b202dbae2424ccd330f2ab) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/62252191@N06/8640282893/)

This was at RTech.

Basically , to compensate if I run at JKM, I need a larger Intercooler. But on the road, I'm definitely not suffering with any issues. I have checked the car with VCDS this morning, and no error codes logged at all.

Well that's my theory, I'm sure that ECU's will dictate what the mass air flow readings are, this power will increase or decrease if the volume isn't there. So it points to my OEM intercooler needs changing, which to be fair, niki gower did point out the condition of it prior to remapping my motor.

My contribution......

Despite the 'headline figure' being a bit less than Hurdy's, it is another big  :happy2: to John for taking me out in his car. That vehicle was a stunning example of how it should be!! I have to say that a lot of the horses in my FWD car are unusable in every day driving thus highlighting that peak power figures in dyno runs can be misleading. I hear about rolling starts etc. and that is where I am better off for sure but I struggle to put the power down in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th depending on conditions. I was tuned in carefully when out in John's car  and the wheels didn't chirp a bit all the way through.....

.....anyone want to buy a 355bhp Octavia? LOL  :happy2: :sad1:

I think I converted a few people to the benefits of 4WD that day Muckipup.  :driver:

Big power is all well and good in a fwd, but useable power at low speeds or from a standstill is always going to be an issue. The guys I know on the focus RS forum are actually slower to 60 mph once they pass the 400bhp barrier as they simply cannot control all that power and torque through the front wheels. The combination of 4WD and DSG is quite formidable and just about shocks everyone who experiences the accessibility of the power for the first time. :happy2:

....Exactly. It's all about balance between power and traction aka driveability. It's why I haven't gone beyond the Stage 2 on my FWD Mk5 GTI which usually delivers 260-270 bhp according to JKM's dyno.

But yes, I would love a modified Mk6 Golf R.

Yeah I'll take yours John, I'll PM the address - park it outside and stick the keys through the letterbox. If you let me know what time you'll be there I'll book you a taxi to the station, should only be about £6

Yea not shabby, Was a bit of a pain trying to wipe the "unknown" software as the Revo program didn't seem to get on with it but all sorted in the end.  Wasn't able to get a RR done after but ill be popping in to my local Dynodynamics tuner for a power run and see how she gets on, car certainly feels a lot quicker through the range so I'm a happy bunny so far, I just hope she runs 240+

Looking at what your currently running, I plan on closely emulating that! Some serious figures.

AWD is awesome for traction.  The APR Golf R used to crack me up how much power could be put on the road.Even a stage 2+ R will embarrass a stage 2+ at any speed below 100mph.

Shocked at the power output over the 2+ cars though.  That's alot of money and additional hardware for only 30hp.

It isn't all about the output Sy, it is about how it is delivered.

I have been in an s-tronic stage 2 TTRS and I'm looking on with extreme interest at Steve Jr's Golf RS project.

Bear in mind though that a stage 2 rs3 only made 30bhp and 30lbft more than my R on the same dyno. With the L04XX I'll be ahead. Until Steve turns my head with a Loba L0500 P powered 5pot!

Doing an LO500 TTRS in a couple of months time.  I love the smoothness of the 5 pot.  I should stick one in the vRS.
