Gorgeous mate :happy2: just gorgeous

Would absolutely love one of these even just for a year or two.

Unfortunately in Ireland they're €1,800 (£1,520) per year in road tax. So it's never gonna happen :sad1:

Enjoy it..... Capristo exhaust anyone :rolleye:

Welcome to the proper fuel club Andy, new car looks spot on and I'm sure it won't be long before you've got your own little touches on it.

Will you be transferring your wheels and brakes across? Or looking at bigger and better things??

Don't lower it! It'll knock the arse out if everything, and anything not loose soon will be  :signLOL: Invest in some SuperPro poly bushes all round. Get the fuel filter changed and reset the DSG!

Nice new motor man. I think the wheels from the tdi would suit it :happy2:

The brakes would suit it for sure but after taking the car for a good drive out round country roads just think the 19" bbs will make me drive it more gentle

Wheels are lovely but because there are so many spokes they'll cover up your inevitable brake upgrades which are even nicer to look at!

Keep your CK and fit them to go to shows and gatherings, unless you can sell them for a good price, of course.

Brakes are easily transferred and it's something that any car benefits from.

I've fit lowering springs to both my Golfs and I wouldn't have stock springs again. I don't find the H&R -30 mm too harsh for the Ed. 30. The adjustable Konis must help a bit too, since they're set to handle the odd bump on the road. The SuperPro ALK is always a must have.

Other than that and an exhaust you shouldn't need much more done. Good luck and have fun with your V6! :drinking:

lol but they look pretty standard like any other multi spoked wheel compared to the phase 1 set I've had fitted  :P

Yeah, they're not the most exciting
But I do think they suit the car quite well :happy2:

They're bloody heavy though :surprised:

They'll only be on there until I can afford a set of OZ superturismo Le Mans!!
(Which may in fact be never cos they are soooo expensive :ashamed: :ashamed:)

Really nice looking R32 Andy  will you actually drive this  :P ?

I was going to buy a R32 last month but decided on another Edition 30.

I would personally definitely swap the brakes over, it would be a big shame to sell them on the GTTDI, its your decision though bud  :happy2:.

Yeah will be driving this one more,as to why i don't want to swap my wheels other as i think it will spoil the driveablity of the r32

Lovely car! Worlds apart in note eh? Loved my MK4 and MK5 '33.
Do think you should get the CKs on though! They'll barely affect handling. 19s are optional from from the factory on MK6s and MK7 Rs so can't be that detrimental.

I had no idea, are we saying...

spend an additional £4625 (plus fitting & "consumables" presumably? call it £5k) and you get a 350HP R32?  :surprised:

Glad I brought an Eddy; more - for less! And lighter too...

You guys must really love that exhaust noise!

No R32...

But if you REALLY want noise...I was out in a 4.5 L V8 TVR Chimera last weekend - a convertible too!

That whole car cost less than some of the turbo/supercharger kits on the link you posted.

I'd spend the money on a 4x4 conversion for a 2+ Eddy. I do hope the new owner of #1521, ex-MateyGuv will do that conversion  :notworthy:

Should have added...not my car.

My B@lls are not big enough, nor my chest hairy enough...I haven't felt so vulnerable in a raod car in a very long time!

Same. It's handy to have. Just because you can do a mod doesn't always mean you should and a rear wiper delete isn't that aesthetic in my opinion but each to their own I suppose!

Looking good Andy. I reckon you need some bigger tailpipes, the standard ones always look a bit puny to me.

Supercharger would be nice, but there's just no cheap way of doing forced induction on a n/a car.

It'll sound mega. That's one thing you don't get with a GTI, although I quite like the noise mine makes with lots of boost.

Are you putting the Forge brakes on it then?

if  i put the forge brakes on i will have to either put the bbs on and just think it will spoil the driven of the r32 as i will drive it like mrs daisy :signLOL:Just going to lower it on h&r springs and do the exhaust

Fair enough. Although you could always consider getting some nice light 18s in a low offset so you can fit the calipers and keep some comfort. Sell the CKs and you shouldn't be too much out of pocket. They'd be ideal for stopping a heavier car like the R32.

But there's value in keeping things close to OEM I suppose. Just wonder how long it'll be before you get the modding itch and go all out on the R32....

Have you considered fitting the Forge BBK and same size size spacers to both axles? That would make your Omanyt clear the brakes and keep the same handling, right?

Not sure how much space your Forge BBK require but I thought it's one of the best to fit behind OEM wheels.

I'm also not a fan of spacers, most likely for the same reasons as you and them being illegal in my country. Just a pity that you made the investment on them and now you can't use them in your new car. :sad1:

Nice, I'd say new lighter 18s, exhaust and respray lower section of the rear valance...no need for anything else really..!! As we know though once you start it's hard to stop..!!
Sprayed my valance Mini dark metallic silver...makes a big difference...although metallic black would look cool on this..!

The PolarFIS Adv. would give function to the steering wheel buttons but the BT module would still not show in the cluster display.

I have both.

I guess I can test if my car really needs the PolarBT or not. I can't remember anymore if I tested the BT module with the PolarFIS Adv. alone and then fitted the PolarBT to make the BT module show in the cluster display.

You didnt need the Polar BT I don't think.

Polar FIS does something called BT Emulation. Works perfectly once enabled.

Such a nice car Andy, and that noise could become very addictive.

Can you give me a insight into running costs? I've got a Mk5 GTI at the min, but looking at either an R32 or edition 30 next. The R's are looking to be slightly cheaper and the noise is incredible, but the tuning potential of an Edition30 is also very tempting.
Title: Re: New car: R32
Post by: Andy on February 27, 2017, 09:24:04 pm
Cheers Peter
The running costs are quiet high as the tax is over £500 a year for a late r32 like mine but the early mk5 is £250 of and they do 28mpg on the motor way but eat fuel around town...

Chris
I had the same problem and it was the wiring (door harness) that was the problem. I initially tried swapping the tweeter and it made no difference. 2 of the wires in the door harness were slightly cracked so tapped them up and now all good again.

the silver surround is clipped in as is the gear selection.i used a very small flat screw driver to push the taps back

Thank you Andy - I mean actually getting the whole black plastic base out of the console. Even with trim tools, I can't work it out at the moment. I think I went at it the wrong end last time (near the ashtray), and scratched the trim. Is the best way to pry at the base closest to the handbrake?
It's just the pics I've seen of the disassembled unit show four huge plastic tabs of the DSG lever unit holding the whole assembly into the console, and they look the usual nasty, awkward VW things to release...

I'm curious if the squealing comes from that, usually it's caused by the pad compound.

Looks great Andy. Are there any steps you take when storing it - trickle charger, car cover, etc? I only ask as I joke with my mum about her car - she has an mx5 that only does about 300 miles per year! I tell her it's bad to have a car sitting so long - bad for the tyres, bad for the engine only used on short trips...

New OEM or Lemforder ones.

I had adjustable rose jointed ones years ago and they were absolute sh*te.... Plus, there is no point in having adjustable ones unless you are at the end of travel.

Well overdue for a refresh

Hey Andy, I just bought a full set of second hand R32 calipers, I'm going to rebuild them and they need a good paint. Am I right in thinking the colour is RAL 5002, ultramarine blue? If so where did you get your paint from? Cheers

Yes this is the correct colour. I have 0.5l of unused high temp RAL 5002 paint I bought to paint calipers carriers but ended up sourcing new painted set so I never used it. If you want to pay for posting I can send it to you. Just PM me if interested.

Having decided to change my car speakers and ordered the 17cm ones

Vibe optisound and trying to find a plug and play speaker for the mids it came apparent there isn't one I got in contact with Scr distributors in Skipton and spoke to Pete..

Send my origina oeml speakers to him and he has made the brackets and also took the plugs of the oem speakers and fitted them to the focal ones..

doing the same with the tweeters
