Title: Golf GTI Mk5 newbie - cam follower question?
Post by: clarkj93 on September 12, 2018, 08:22:41 pm
So I've just picked up my 58 plate golf gti yesterday. I've read about the cam follower nightmare.... Is there any indication as to if this effects all mk5's? Mines registered from October 2008, I've read elsewhere about revisions to stronger camshafts later on with this engine, however as far as I know this could be BS! I've got a cam follower kit on the way and I'll get it inspected by myself or a local specialist next week, I was just wondering if there's any more info on there about this? The car is on 84k and I cant find any details of it being changed....

Pretty sure it affects all TFSI engines regardless of engine code.

Changed mine yesterday car just ticked over 98000 miles job really easy, only half an hour, part from tps for £30, it must have been changed previously as the old one was virtually unmarked.
