New stereo (Bluetooth crackles)
Last Poster: AdamGwynne in Mk5 General Area on Today at 05:29:52 PM
Hi guys,

Just got a new stereo for the GTI with nav and all the good stuff however when I’m on the Bluetooth it starts to crackle here and there. I’ve messed about with the settings on my phone (iPhone 6) and on the unit but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions are welcome because at this point I haven’t got a clue

@Toasted - I fully agree about the handling upgrades and would add brakes to the list also. It is important to have a balanced package and you will feel the better response every time a wheel turns rather than just on WOT moments.

For the handling upgrades, I started with racing line sports su

Just my 2p's worth.

Had an Edition 30 DSG for 7 years, pretty much from new, loved it, modded it to stage 2 and wasn't tempted by much else in my ownership and put 60k miles on it. Owned it far longer than any other car and at last count have owned about 50 in my

I then bought a nearly new 2017 prefacelift Mk7 R with a manual box and couldn't gel with it at a

If doing an engine swap, it will be worth pulling the sump off anyway to clean/check/replaced etc the oil pick up for peace of mind.

Last Poster: mjmallia in Mk5 General Area on Today at 09:10:29 AM
I use 5W30 Platinum Plus in the winter and 5w40 platinum in the summer from TPS (Quantum)........I change it every three months religiously due to previous oil pick up issues.

Re: New cam shaft
Last Poster: FJB in Mk5 General Area on Today at 08:37:50 AM
If when you changed the camshaft you marked the chain at both cam sprockets, then transferred the inlet cam mark to you new cam, then lined it up when you put it back together then it wont be out of time. It will only be out of time if you locked the cams with the tool and fitted the chain with the bottom slack. If it has been out of time and only by one tooth you may get away with

Re: 130k anything to be concerned about?
Last Poster: Elmariachi in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 11:15:34 PM
Another newbie - thinking about buying one near me with about 110k miles, looks well maintained and full history but has been on the long life schedule.

Is this enough to rule it out? Long time between oil changes etc. Would it be any use switching it to more regular changes now?

You’ve got an air leak somewhere down stream of the maf sensor. Pulling the dip stick car run lumpy mean your pcv is working perfectly.

Hi Guys,

This is my first post since purchasing a mk5 gti. Loving it!!
I have done a quick data logging using vcds to check all is good.
Noticed at peak my actual boost is around 180mbar less than the specified. Is this normal?

Specified = 2240
Actual = 2060

2005 54 reg golf gti in Graphite blue. Full service History.
Excellent condition. I have had it for over two years and it has never let me down.
I bought it with 113k Miles and it has now down 141k faultless miles.
Masses of work done to get it mechanically right.
Including in the last few years lots of wear and tear items.:
    Full services with millers oil.
Cam follower twice - done again recently at R Tech.
    PCV valve.
    Cam chain and tensioner
    2 x water pump
    Boost pipe, boost seal
Discs and pads front and back.
4 Uniroyal rainsport tyres with plenty of tread.
    Charcoal filter.
    Anti roll bar links
    Coil springs
    Cv boot
    Intercooler pipe.
    Drop links
Plus lots if other little items.
JVC stereo - dab, USB, blue tooth
I have spent a lot to get all wear and tear items replaced to get it driving perfectly.
A couple of minor items. It has a small dent in the rear wheel arch and a couple of the 18 inch alloys are scuffed.
It had an R Tech stage 1 done in August and now shows 241bhp. They did a health check and said it was one of the best AXX engines they had seen.
Drives brilliantly and the remap is fantastic.
I have started a new job which requires long distance travelling therefore my golf is not suitable. I will definately miss it.
Someone will get a brilliant car for the money. You will not be disappointed.
Owned and driven by an enthusiast.
    Lots More photos via email.
    Based in Teeside, North East.

        LED number plate lights
        LED interior lighting
VW rubber/winter mats and standard mats
Sub frame bolt upgrade with OEM VW parts (was a problem in the mk5 particularly)

Great car as you would expect. Always run on Shell V-power except the odd emergency, with receipts dating years back. Replaced coil packs with red top OEM items as a matter of course at approximately 31k along with genuine VW spark plugs. Again many receipts kept to back this up, no corners cut on cheap parts.
Interior condition in very good condition with the drivers side seat free of scuffs and rips. Rear seats very rarely used if at all.
Turbo always left to run down before turning ignition off.
I try hard to look after all my cars and hopefully this reflects in the standard of this GTI.

Points to note to be completely transparent as an enthusiast; Some scuffing to an alloy and some expected stonechips which have been touched up.

Any questions/offers feel free to ask. zeroseven 8583nine 1519
