Yh I was considering it in the future, just trying to save up for a stage 2 map at the moment. How easy is it to fit genuine xenons. I’ve seen depo lights on ebay but the amber light doesn’t go all the way across like it does on xenons.

Hi guys, just got back in the game with an Edition 30 and am very happy with it.
I replaced the follower on my Old Mk 5 some years ago but can’t remember where I bought it from.
Looking at prices they seem to have increased But there are some Kits on eBay from vag/Audi dealers for £46.
Does that sound about right?

@Jb55 : Hi there!

Mine was sold to me by a good friend who had bought a MK6 GTI and wanted it gone quickly - I paid £2K - Mileage is 152K on an 05 Plate 5 Door with no optional extras.
He had it up on Gumtree for £2.4K with interest, however none turned out to view. I needed a car quickly

Hello all - Looking for a GTI!

Hi guys. I'm looking to move on from my MINI shortly and a Golf GTI is at the top of my list (mk5 of course)

Got a question... is there a facelift version? I'm a fan of usually opting for facelifts as most issues have been dealt with by then!

I'm also considering Astra VXR and Focus ST. The Focus facelift is obviously due to the different headlights, and the A

Damp smell in my car still hasn't gone away!
Last Poster: MGTI94 in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 03:16:28 PM
Hi all,

I bought a Mk5 a little over a year ago now (November 2018) and the one thing we noticed was a strong damp smell on the drive home. The trader told us it had just been valeted and we assumed the seats would still be damp - no problem.

Fast forward a few, cold months and we noticed that there was around 3-4 inches of water in the spare wheel well. We ev

Sounds great!  I had some Mavic wheels on an MTB years ago with similar technology but that style of bearing doesn't last long on MTBs, so they reverted back to cones + steel balls for strength.

Ball bearing turbos carry on spinning for ages after engine shut down, quite impressive!  You also don't get the same problems with shutting the engine off straight after a hard

@Pudding : Ah! Thought there must be some truth to the upshift in Manual. Great to hear that it can be mapped out though!
I'm still keeping an eye out and the 'SemiAuto/Automatic' box is ticked now - thinking a DSG ED30 may just be the way to go...

I’ve had the Golf a year now and it’s been fantastic in my ownership, it was a low owner well maintained car when I purchased it and I have spent a lot of money getting it even better, for the money and mileage you won’t find better for the age and mileage. The car has never been registered by the previous owners on the Edition 30 list so hasn’t got a plague.

Maintenance Work
Receipts for all work and maintenance carried out, all known MK5 Gti weak spots have been addressed and parts changed. All parts changed within the last 18 months.
New clutch and flywheel
PCV Changed
DV Changed
Coilpacks replaced to R8 red packs
Cambelt and water pump changed at
New camchain and tensior (with service)
New rear caliper
Cam follower replaced
Gearbox oil change
New main thermostat
Oil pickup pipe along with the service
Rear bump stops
New C/V Boot
New high pressure fuel pump
New Milltek catback exhaust (resonated)
Whiteline Anti Lift kit

It’s in very good condition for its age, it has some stone chips on the front car but still very good, no accident damage or bent panels.  It has no rusty front arches I suspect these have been replaced by VW at some point. The rear arches have a very small quantity of rust but very minor on both sides, I have treated these but it’s not very noticeable, compared to other MK5 Golf’s its very minor and so small I can’t really take a photo of them.

Original half leather chequered seats, these are heated, they are in good condition, the driver’s side is showing signs of wear though and has torn slightly but it’s not in your eye line, picture attached.
The dash in in great condition, everything works as it should and it has a MK6 RNS 510 installed so it looks factory.

The suspension is standard and in great condition, rides the bumps really well, the wheels are the original finish Pascara VW Alloys made for the Edition 30, and it has matching Michelin Pilot Super Sports all around with over 5mm of tread.
The car has been enthusiast owned which means it’s had extensive maintenance to ensure it’s in tip top condition and uses zero oil in-between changes.

Bad Bits
The wheels could do with a refurb, they aren’t terrible but do have original finish so kerbed and minor lacquer peel
Interior leather on the driver’s seat is slightly torn as stated above
Overall the car is in great condition and has no hidden issues, I will start commuting lots of miles a day for my new job so I have got a lease car as the Edition is too nice to use for this.
