Reminds me of Neil on the Inbetweeners, when he mixes sleeping pills, cough syrup and wine.

i flushed out the core at the weekend. It wasn't particularly blocked but 15years of S****T & sludge got knocked out all the same. I flushed back and over a few times with a garden hose, duck tape and some 3/4'' ID hosing through the matrix. I also soaked matrix a couple of time's with a kettle of boiling before back flushing. Ive had a decent improvement in the heat output. Its a

Don't forget the rear springs are inboard, so the rates don't quite work the same way as the fronts.  The leverage is different.

On older, solid rear axle'd VWs the rates were always softer than the front to account for the stiffness of the beam, but on independent rear axles where the

I just had waterpump and belt done with genuine VW kit for £425, if they are doing the thermostat for an extra £175 then that seems a good price as I’ve seen prices for the thermostat at about £300 due to labour time .

£300 for thermostat change - Wow that is really steep!

Just joined the forum and have been reading up on all the helpful threads.

Am looking at going the gladen 3way route, a mosconi D2 150.2 amp. And maybe something like the mb-quart active sub and enclosure for the boot.

Having a nightmare deciding on the head unit but thats a whole other thread.

Thanks for the info. I’m on the lookout for a car with DCC which seems to be quite rare. TCR maybe the best option as i have seen one with DCC, prets, dynaudio and rear camera with only 3k on the clock. Not sure if I can gel with the seats tho  :signLOL:

Also here's a high sp

Nope.  The standard bolts are fine with steelies.

Just my opinion and based on experience.....it's not worth running winters unless you live in heavy snow/ice prone areas of the country.

For people who've upgraded to Golf R front brakes, 16" steelies are a no go.  They are the

They are just your standard blue crimp connectors, easy to find - most car folk have have them lying around.

You need 2 male / 2 female, the terminals of the fuse fit into female connectors and male connectors into engine bay fuse board - bit of insulation tape between the female connectors going onto the fuse to stop them touching.

If it was me I'd just put a standard cat on it and be done with it.

All will happen is if the cat does go bad it won't show up the P0420 fault code.

My opinion.

Thanks, I've bought a sports cat now as I just can't get a straight answer as to whether and ho

Re: Eagle F1 SuperSport
Last Poster: stealthwolf in Mk5 General Area on January 16, 2021, 02:54:14 PM
I’m intrigued. My favourite tyre of all time on the Golf was the PS2. The PSS was even better in the dry but not as good in the wet. The PS3 was rubbish by comparison. The F1 Asymmetrics were grippy but I felt they were a bit soft and gave less sharp feedback. The PS4 tyres were good as I remember the PS2. So I am absolutely interested in a tyre better than the PS4.

Re: Door card clips
Last Poster: Pudding in Mk5 General Area on January 16, 2021, 01:59:54 AM
Yeah there is a gap. Should only be 2-3mm though. MK5 door cards don't push onto the metalwork like the MK4 and earlier cards did.  Probably an attempt to reduce creaks and rattles. VW sell a clip kit for reasonable money, about £11 per side last time I got them.

You will like the Passat control arms.  I think the steering pivot points are different to a GTI.  The steering response is a bit sharper with the Passat arms  :happy2:

Well, 4 things:

1)  OEM driveshafts are capable of handling significantly more than 400nm.  But if you really insist - I recommend 'Driveshaft shop' in America.

2) AXX can't make 300+ on the stock turbo.

3) Borg Warner quoted maximum flow rates:

K04 = 330 crank power.

K03 = 260 crank power.

4) Figures over those numb

Re: spring rates
Last Poster: Pudding in Performance Modifications on January 15, 2021, 08:34:03 PM
That's pretty soft.  Not far off OEM rates?  VAG do tend to favour soft springs with stiff damping, but I prefer harder springs with softer damping personally.

Springs hold the car up, dampers do the damping  :happy2:

My Ohlins DFV are 70n/mm front and 60n/mm rear.  Feels spot on for a fast road car with occasional track work, imo.  Yes it's very firm, over tw

Looks great. Easy to install? I have read about battery drain. Just need to find someone local who knows his stuff to install (Belfast)

If you car is older that 2007 you will need to change to a newer can bus that starts with 07 like this one and get it coded: https://www.

posted on behalf of @DannyboyED30 (the second owner) who is now selling the car , of which I (@john_o) was the first owner from new.

    @DannyboyED30 states  :

I am Selling my Manual, 3dr Edition 30.
I have owned this beautiful car for almost 3 years now,
I bought it from the guy who put the order in at VW and owned it from brand new...
He used it to commute from Warrington to Manchester daily, so it's had some pretty easy miles in it's lifetime.
The previous owner (a middle aged man) had Bilstein B12 suspension installed, Audi S3 front brake setup and also a Revo remap to really make the most out of the engine.
This car has genuinely only ever been run on Shell Vpower fuel, the previous owner documented his ownership of this car in an online blog.

Some photos of the car are here : https://photos.app.goo.gl/v7tjSUYrurm9wKcU6

In my ownership I've had a

    Sachs organic clutch installed,
the cam chain and tensioner replaced
    brand new rear brake calipers.

The car benefits from a fully stamped up service book, loads of history and even the original purchase pack, receipt and options list.
I've had the car looked after by UK renowned VAG specialist The Phirm in my ownership and have invoices for 3k plus for various jobs keeping the car 100%.
I believe this car is mechanically perfect and will be reliable for many, many years to come.
The previous owner had a couple of parking dings, which i've included pictures of...the wheels could also do with a refurb, but if you want a reliable and well cared for ED30 this is the one.
Always run on matching Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, 2 brand new tyres fitted last week. It's just been MOT'd (no advisories) and had a full service carried out.
It's good to go and be enjoyed by the new owner. Selling due to a house move and purchasing an estate!
The Thule roof rack will be included in the sale, but not the bike carrier.

This is a rare chance to own a highly prized Edition 30, with the unique opportunity to be able to talk to the only 2 owners of the car from new, much of which is also recorded on @john_o  s personal blog

    Next MOT due 21/10/2021
Full service history, Black, 2 owners
