Golf Mk5 Leak What is it?
Last Poster: EduardV in Mk5 General Area on Today at 04:26:55 pm
Hello guys, I am a new owner of an MK5 1.6 petrol engine, it’s been running with no issues so far apart from revving slightly when in neutral, but today I noticed something that worried me a bit more, I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars, so I thought this is a good place to ask about it. There is a leak I noticed from the middle section of the underbody. It came right

I found a great condition passenger seat on ebay and got a trimmers in glasgow to strip down the seats to make 1 good seat. Did a cracking job and got the new stitching in the old existing holes.

Update number 3
Timing belt and waterpump finished and big thermostat fitted yesterday. I haven'#039t been for a test drive yet but I don'#039t think there was anything wrong with the thermostat it didn'#039t look like it was stuck open, unless it'#039s opening too early. I'#039m 99% positive that I haven'#039t got the inline one behind the alternator. My car is 2006 with engine code BWA. When

It has. But with my mechanic, didn’t tell my anything about the codes it gave. Just said the selector has to be changed and there isn’t anything responding from the selector.

That usually means that it’s ok 👌#128076. However I would change it anyway since the diaphragm can get lazy over the time.

I can hear that it is building boost as I get the blowoff sound when I shift gears. I can also see the boost pipes expanding.

At idle i get:

Ha, BMW and Mercs are bong central compared to the Golf! nbsp And 2024 on cars bong at you for doing 31 in a 30, and bong at you for veering out of your lane, and bong at you for eating a ham sandwich at lunchtime instead of cheese and pickle.....

There is no cranking oil pressure when bump starting, hence the low pressure bong. nbsp It will have only been a couple of seconds

The pump looks a bit old. Could probably do with replacing. New ones come with a new pressure regulator.

You'#039d need to check the ABS module pins and see if they are all in the same spot on both modules. I was able to upgrade my 2009 1.4 with a module off of a golf 6 that had hill hold assist. Simply had to re-code the module and it was done. I forgot what tool they used but it would basically generate long codings for you and you'#039d just copy paste them in till there were no errors.<

I've recently done both my outer CV axles a few months back using SKF part number VKJA 3028 from Autodoc for around £80 for both sides, however the smaller inner metal boot clip was to small and did not fit! Overall happy with the quality other than that though.

Re: Mk5 GTi timing chain issue? At whits end!
Last Poster: rxpx69 in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on June 18, 2024, 09:20:52 pm
It might be unrelated, but it could be worth checking the timing on the belt side as well. When I replaced my timing chain, it brought the KW figure from 5 degrees to 4 degrees which was disappointing. Last month I also replaced the timing belt, which was last changed back in 2014, and now thankfully see 0 KW.

You can still use GTI clusters in a tdi just don't rev over 6k lol

You need to be careful though, make sure you have they correct tools and software to code it in.

Get some cheap plastic trim tools off Amazon/ebay if you're worried about breaking it.

Alright, over the last 3 days the HPFP arrived, I'#039ve drilled out the fuel line, fitted the pump and had my buddy install the aggressive tune. The car now requests and holds 130-135 bar pressure just fine, occasionally jumping to 140 bar. When it jumps to 140, I assume the release valve cracks open cause I lose power for a second or so, but this only happens at 5k rpm in 4th gear w

Re: 2008 GTI - factory cruise control just stopped working
Last Poster: Octoparrot in Mk5 General Area on June 14, 2024, 08:06:55 pm
Mine stopped working because a wire had broken inside the stalk even though it was a genuine one and not that old. The wires are pulled quite tight when signalling and over time it must have fatigued.

Re: Dsg selector unit part number/s please! Tearing my hair out.
Last Poster: yusufq32 in Mk5 General Area on June 14, 2024, 01:28:27 pm
I’ve got the exact same issue. Got the part number 1K2713041B. I’m trying to reduce the costs of buying a new selector. Got quotee £1,100 from tps😂. Found one from Slovakia for 525. But I’m wondering if I can fit another dsg selector from a breaking mk5 gti but with another part number. Same gearbox and selector but different part number. Will anyone know if this will work?

Edition 30 Rear Valance -Pearl Black (Genuine Part)
Location: Manchester
Collection Only

For Sale is my old Pearl Black Edition 30 rear valance. This clips into the upper section of your rear bumper.
This was removed from my golf due someone backing into me at low speed causing surface cracks. (they offered to pay for a new valance)

The surface cracks are around the the number plate area which I've tried to photo the best i can.

The exhaust surround has been bonded back on by the body shop after an encounter with a high kerb a few years ago.

There are storage scratches on the paintwork so will need respraying. You will also need a towing eye cover.

All clips to clip the valance upper bumper section are intact and there is no sign of warping.

This is a genuine valance and was fitted to my ED30 from the factory.
2008 Volkswagen Golf GTi Edition 30 - Steel Grey - 5 Door - Stage 2+ (DSG)
Location: West London
Collection Only

Hi all,

For sale is my 2008 Volkswagen Golf GTi Edition 30 (DSG). I am the 2nd owner from new and have owned the car since November 2021. The car was near enough stock when I purchased it and I have upgraded it in my ownership.

- 5 door.
- DSG.
- Steel Grey.
- 76,000 miles (will rise as still in use).
- FSH - last serviced December 2023.
- MOT - Expires 7th March 2025.
- Xenons.
- Heated seats.
- Highline MFD.
- Arm rest.
- RNS510.
- Folding mirrors (heated).
- Rear parking sensors.

In my ownership I have had the following maintenence completed:

- Serviced 3 times (2 full services, one oil and filter change).
- Cambelt and waterpump.
- Thermostat replaced.
- DSG service.
- Genuine cam chain and tensioner.
- Genuine cam follower changed at every service.
- Genuine oil pick up pipe.
- Rocker cover gasket.
- Genuine PCV.
- Genuine Diverter valve.
- Subframe spacer kit.
- Brake vacuum gasket.
- Varta E44 heavy duty battery.
- New rear wiper switch.
- New folding mirror switch.

Upgrades/modifications are as follows:

- Brodit angled mount.
- Suede retrimmed headliner.
- Wheel finesse steering wheel wrap.
- Ram air oversized induction kit.
- Turbo back exhaust comprising of an MPD developments downpipe with sports cat and a Miltek cat back.
- VIS Stage 3 HPFP internals.
- Genuine R8 coilpacks.
- MK7 Golf Gti performance front calipers, discs and pads.
- Tuning technics Stage 2+ lite remap (approximately 355-360bhp).
- Tuning Technics DSG remap.
- H&R front and rear anti roll bars - fitted December 2023.
- Whole car has had Powerflex bushes installed in December 2023.
- Super pro anti lift kit - fitted December 2023.
- AP coilovers (top mounts replaced all around at the same time), fitted December 2023.
- All rear control arms replaced (December 2023).
- Geo By Luke fast road alignment (December 2023).
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres all around.

I've just spent circa £2.5k on the suspension components refresh.

I have spared no expense on ensuring the car is mechanically sound.

Being honest, the car could do with the wheels being refurbished. There is general wear and tear on the car which is expected for the age, the car is approaching 16 years old. There are some minor dents and scratches. The front end does have some stone chips. The inner sills have some slight blistering to the paint. The MFSW buttons work intermittently but I have bought the new control module but haven't had this fitted yet. The cruise control is also intermittent and I have purchased a new stalk, but haven't fitted this yet. Parts will be included in the sale, or if I have time, I will get them installed before sale.. Front and rear dash cams & pioneer double din are not included in the sale.

If you are looking for a well sorted car which mechanically has been looked after well, this is a good car to purchase.

I am in no rush to sell, only considering selling to upgrading. No part exchanges please.

The pictures are prior to the installation of the coilovers, I will upload new pictures once I have detailed the car.

I'm looking for £11,495.00, I paid just under this when I bought the car stock.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Kind regards,
