True - I didn't actually talk about the brake setup! In a word: epic.

They just feel so strong, with amazing bite. They inspire a lot of confidence, whereas the OEM brakes did the opposite! I'd have to say they actually feel more powerful than the brakes on my RS4 - although they obviously are trying to stop a much heavier car, and the pads take some time to warm up.

If I compare to the RS- the new GTi setup does take a little getting used to; the RS4 brakes are more progressive and the first couple of times I apply the brakes in the GTi, I find myself stopping a lot quicker than I meant to!

All in all though, it really pulls together the whole driving experience of the GTi, and was the one area that was really lacking before. It's a hoot to drive now.

Great to know that the setup pleases you too. :drinking:

I never felt that lack of progressiveness since the other big brakes that I know are the R32 front brakes that bite with even  less pedal pressure. :signLOL:

Went for a drive yesterday with some friends to the mountains. Awesome fun!  :driver:

Time to upgrade the audio!

I already had a pioneer SPH-DA120 headunit installed, but everything else OEM.

On a recent trip to NY for work, I picked up a JL XD500 amp for the GTi, and a JL TW series sub for my RS4...which means I could pinch the JL 10" W0 sub from the RS4. I already had a custom sub box sat in the garage which I bought off eBay.

All got installed yesterday by David at SafeNsound (who I used last time). Can't recommend him enough. He's fully mobile now, so came to me to do the work.

So setup now is

- Pioneer SPH-DA120
- JL XD500 3 channel under the passenger seat, powering OEM front speakers and the sub
- Dynamat in the front doors
- Rear speakers disconnected
- JL 10" W0 sub in a custom box, to keep the boot space

Needs a vacuum!

It sounds so much better!! By retaining the OEM speakers (which are good but just need better amplification) and fitting the dynamat, keeps away any annoying rattles. I still need to tweak settings to my taste, but a worthwhile upgrade

Just had a read through the entire thread and this is exactly where I want to go with mine. Looked epic with the CHs on it. Lovely car!

Ditto! Great thread and now have a shopping list, which includes an RS4.

Keep up the good work!
