hi all

love my tdi match golf which i have cosmetically changed.  considering a stage one remap but want to know if any casution due to DSG gearbox. someone told me remaps aren't well suited for DSG boxes but im not technical enough minded to understand! any help appreciated...thanks

petesimcock:
A lot of people on here have dsg and have the engine remapped. I don't see the problem. In auto mode it may not know where the torque is anymore so could benefit from a dsg remap.

Also the dsg boxes are very strong out of the factory so no expensive clutch upgrades until you start making huge torque afaik

pellet77:
thanks very much - i believe the comment was something about gear slippage. Pleased to hear its fairly common - im told a massive increase for the basic engines.

even in standard form the DSG gearbox is actually designed to slip the clutches under certain conditions.

Agree with the torque comments.
I'm running a DSG box with 400lbsft of torque, have heard that the clutches can take 500lbsft before they are at there limit.
DSG boxes fitted to a tuned eddy save you £1000 as the clutch doesn't need changing. If it's manual you wouldn't move as the standard be clutch would burn out straight away.
