Throttle body clean

(1/2) > >>

Pesky jones:
So I want to clean my throttle body

Sometimes when I start the car (DSG) up after it's been cold (often in the morning) it will flutTer the revs slightly in first gear as I'm pulling off before going into second gear.

I want to clean the throtTle body to hopefully cure this, if it doesn't then its something else!

First off, can anyone tell me where it actually is in the engine? Can I clean it without removing it? Thanks

rich83:
It's in the centre in front of the engine block. You'd need to remove it to clean it

Pesky jones:
Is it an easy job to remove rich? Do I have remove anything else to get to it? presumably engine cover

rich83:
Engine cover, lower near side boost hose, throttle pipe, map sensor wire. Maybe some more bits. It's not easy

Pesky jones:
hmm. I'll have to have a deeper look into it. If I do go ahead ill be sure to post a guide
