RNS510 Firmware Upgrade Dealer/Supplier
ollie288:
My speed warning is in MPH now although it does start in Germany! Can that not be fixed? :happy2:
Hedge:
There is a later firmware 268x that solves the 'Regensburg Syndrome' but I quite like it.
vRS Carl:
To clarify a couple of things
Any firmware from 102X onwards so:
102X
090X
110X
120X
116X
266X
268X
Will require either the Adaption with VCDS to show hidden menu OR the firmware altering to enable it straight away.
Firmwares 090X and 268X are the only 2 firmwares to my Knowledge that require you to re-install maps and music.
With regards to Voice control. 266X firmware was actually a Beta and it is hit and miss for the Voice control to work.
268X firmware is the release version of the Firmware and has correct support for all MFSW, Voice Control (there is now a Voice option in the menu and the ability to save Voice Tags for address favourites) and also sorts out the Battery Drain issue, which anyone with a lower than K revision gateway experienced. Also it sorts out the starting in Germany issue (well it sometimes happens but only if say you have had the car parked in a garage and then it lasts about 2 secs)
There are a few other minor tweaks but none worth mentioning.
HTH
Carl :happy2:

what did you do to fix the KMH ?
the starting in Germany is the main reason i went back, it would take nearly half my journey home to find out i was still in the UK !!!!

yeh, but im told its not meant to go on A units !!, oh and IT does wipe the settings on the RNS ?
EDIT
If your unit is after mounted (Retrofitting). And you used VCDS after install to configure the unit properly. = Don't upgrade if you don't have access to VCDS anymore.
If your unit is after mounted (Retrofitting). And you DID NOT USE VCDS to configure the unit, Then it should be safe to upgrade the unit. Sens no extra coding is going to be lost.
NOTE: Hard drive is still going to be formatted. (you lose all the saved music, map etc...)
NOTE: Language still needs to be changed from the setup menu (Default is German)
NOTE: Map disk needed to upload the map back on to the hard drive.
