Hi from Norwich

Hi Alex
I am also from Norwich, don't see too many Tornado reds around here. Have you picked the car up yet? How is it?
BTW this forum is a brilliant source of help and advice, had my GTI for 5 years now, it has helped me out lots! It WILL make you spend money though, you have been warned!
Eddie NL is the man for retro fits/vcds. He fitted some things for me, top bloke.

Hi all
I picked the car up and I love it! Test driving it was my first drive of a MK5 GTI and i'm sure i've bought the right car for me :happy2:
Unfortunately, it's not been without issue though
- On the drive home, about 2 miles from home, a really bad brake squeal started! (and has continued ever since) i've taken it back and they've suggested the nearside rear caliper is binding and could be described as 'failed' so they're going to replace under warranty.
- The high level rear brake light doesn't work, again, will be covered under warranty but as far as I can understand, it's quite a job
- And most annoying to me, as far as I can tell, the pre sale service seems to consist of just a stamp in the book! The oil was rank. Not sure what to do about this yet.
These extra issues have put a bit of a downer on the car to be honest but I am excited for the car I think i'm going to end up with! On the plus side, the wing has already been approved for replacement and i've had a quote i'm happy with for a proper wheel refurb so those issues are on the way to being sorted.
Alex
(Can someone advise how to attach photos please)

As these cars are now around 10 years old - there will inevitably be the odd issue here and there. Once sorted though, you won't be disappointed.

It took me a while to work out also!

Here's some pics then
Here she is, notice the difference in wheel colour...
Trying (and failing) to stop brake squeal
Decided to clean up the wheels (only rear so far) as they were off
Process was -
AG Acid wheel cleaner and left to dwell then PW rinse
Auto Finesse deironiser, left to dwell, agitated then PW rinse
Clayed
2 x Layers of Collinite 476s
Refitted and happy with them bar the corrosion, full refurb in due course
Also decided to tidy up exhaust tips, couldn't get them to a satisfactory level so will be replaced at some point
Thanks for looking :)
