Intercooler advice

<< < (3/3)

Paradox1:
The sidemounts wasn't very successful on the 1.8T engines if you remember. I think where the merc would benefit on this setup is that it doesn't have the long pipes from the Turbo to the throttle body.

Personally I'm just going to get a twintercooler as it fits easy and wont take long to fit. it will flow more than I need anyway powerwise

pudding:
Yeah the 1.8T side mounts were literally made for standard boost and no more.  The TFSI front mounts can cope a lot better with the boost turned up.

Yep, short boost pipes = much more responsive!

That Merc one is a air-water though (aka 'chargecooler'), which is much better at cooling than air-air, hence it's tiny size.

Probably something I would do if going big turbo but with K03/K04 any of the aftermarket front mounts should be fine.  Is the Audi one worth it as I keep hearing it's only a tiny bit bigger than the Golf's?

dan930:
There's also the THS Ic which I think is around £500

I have a copy of that IC from DsD for £300. All made in China. For that money I'd buy another.
