Looks a good project - sorry to read you sold a couple of iconic cars to buy it though. Still, the mk5 is good, so am sure you'll enjoy it!

With a just a little TLC, you'll uncover a decent car there - little tweeks like mk6 switches just help the car a bit. The rear tints are very dark - will you be keeping them?

I only sold the Escort & Impreza because I had taken them to a stage of completion I was happy with.

The Golf Is a nice car to drive & Only bought it as I was bored and wanted another car to mess with & spend a bit of time on.

I think the tints will be staying for now.

Back to the Golf.

When having the discs & Pads fitted it was discovered that both rear calipers were badly siezed so needed replacing, Tried new ones from TPS but at £150 each I decided against it.

So a call to Brakes international I managed to get 2 new (Not refurbished ones) for £160 the pair. Only down side is they were not Red so I had to paint them.
