--- Quote from: r5gtt on March 07, 2016, 08:27:06 pm ---Ah that's excellent news. get your DV checked as it's a known failure point losing boost and I think mine has gone too but no time to check it as get home from work too late and weekends are awfully wet.

Maybe this weekend.

That is on my list of things to do, I spent an hour last night going through all the receipts from the previous owner, it's definitely never been done, however the other problem valve has been just back in September which is good news.

Theres a definite lack of boost on the car, makes a lot of noise, but doesn't really seem to go.

I have many things on my to do list but no time or daylight hours to do them.
Yes definitely check the dv as this is the weakest link with our cars.
You're lucky you have many receipts as I had one from the crook trader who sold me the car saying yes they have receipts and I'll get copies which I had to fight for over a month to get. wish someone  :slap: them for me.

noise?. whooshing, fluttering?

Theres a lot of grunt from the engine, there isn't the tell tale whooshing, but just doesn't seem to be pulling the way my other GTis did, however when I do lift off even at slow pace I can hear the whoosh which is making me think it is the diverter valve.

The car was MOT'd by the garage I bought it from on 9th December, I put the car in yesterday for the DSG Oil change, and this is a list of things wrong.

Aircon, Brake Fluid & FT Due            £99.00
(O/S/F) CV Boot            £173.79

Also attached the link for the video if anyone fancies a look, theres no way anyone is going to tell me the car wasn't like that in December when it was MOT'd. https://www.arnoldclarkcarpreview.com/vt802GgLLCp

Wow that's a lot of work and even more a  :stupid: price quoted. The car was like that when it was MOT'D for sure.
I have to do the same thing at work but we don't go into that much detail as most of it is typed on the Health checks I do.

Wheel alignment GEO every year every car

every year

Air con every 2 years

Air con sanitizer every year

Brake fluid every two years

EDT engine decontamination treatment 3 years and above. f*** sakes all that.

These are what I put down on the health check or I'm in deep poo as the manager is strict on these things.

Your car pads have at least 7mm left on them and I had to at a replay many times as he shot off quick.

I've not read the last replies but did you buy it off a trader?, if so get them to fork out for it.

glasgowdubber:
Thanks for the replies, I definitely won't be letting Arnold Clark do any of the work, I know a guy at VW parts who sees me right, and my mate is going fit them, but its still going to be looking at a fair few quid to put the car right. The car was listed on ebay, and bought through a garage, anyone know where I stand with this?

The car was MOT'd on the 9th December, I didn't buy it until the 24th December. The garage is based in Leeds, and I'm now up in Glasgow.

As for Arnold Clark, I wouldn't let them do anything on the car, just this had to be done in VW, but even with the video evidence it's a well founded report.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

It was MOT'd 19th December, I didn't buy/collect the car until the 24th December.

glasgowdubber:
Now collected all the parts from my guy at VW...

(O/S/F) CV Boot
Full Service Kit
(N/S/R) Wheel Bearing
(O/S/R) Suspension Broken
2 x Suspension Split Front Arm RR Bushes
Reg D Valve

Well managed to get all of the above from VW from the guy I deal with for £430 all genuine parts, including a full service kit. Hopefully after this, and the recent DSG oil change, I'll see a massive difference from the car, especially when I suspect the Diverter valve is busted!

Shall update again over the weekend

In regards to the DSG in reverse, I tried what people said and not going straight on the accelerator, and let the car find the biting point itself, this is definitely made a world of difference and just shows how I shouldn't have been using the DSG, however I will say after the DSG oil service, a massive difference with the delivery of power.

On a side note, emailed the garage where I bought the car, they didn't MOT the car so are accepting zero liability in terms of the car being at fault!  :fighting:

xjay1337:
You want a revision G valve.

Hope the car is better after.
