--- Quote from: Rob GTI on January 14, 2010, 11:29:19 am ---I sure I have read somewhere (on the firmware update threads on this forum) that if the security seal is broken or missing it could have a soldred chip or something in that makes it brick any firmware update. I'm not sure from the photo is the sticky residue is what was left of a security seal??

Not got a clue on that score so i cant say if its right or wrong.
But what i will say is, mine was a version b, had a seal broken and its performed perfectly and has had firmware updates! ;)

Can anyone confirm if thats where the seal should be?
Ill not be upgrading the firmware, so all should be ok if it is stroked?

Yeah thats where the seal should be. Not a great pic, but here is one of mine and you can just see the seal. Before you start getting worried, contact Darren (Mortygttdi) I'm sure he can fix em if you brick it......I think :ashamed:
Out of interest how much did you pay? Darren is selling them well cheap
EDIT: Just realized my photo had my code written on. I will post the edited pic in a mo.
Lyons:
Darren isnt doing them at the minute.
I paid £480 delivered, which is pretty much the same as whe he was charging.
Mine will be remaining as fw1100, so i dont need to worry about bricking it.
Just need to read up on how to upload music to it and arrange songs on the HD now!
Lyons:
Incidently, if anyone else is interested at that price let me know.
He'll also do them for £460 posted if paid via bank transfer.
