All Things Mk5 > How to Guides / Troubleshooting
Cam follower on my 06' plate
preacher:
The banjo bolt is the bolt on the left with the metal pipe connected, disconnect air intake and sensor plug top left of engine cover, pull engine cover from each corner to release the bungs (needs a good tug) disconnect fuel pump plug, stuff a rag in underneath and slowly undo the right hand pipe first and release pressure. Then you will need a m8 triple square to undo u the left banjo belt from underneath ( this is a pain so be patient and make sure socket is in properly so you don't strip it, and mine took some doing up after to stop it weeping ) disconnecting the pipe fom the pcv helps a lot. The rest is easy 3 bolts to take the pump off ( don't over tighten them when you put it back
ChazGTI:
Also make sure you don't cross thread the large nut that holds the fuel line onto the pump.

Thanks guys for all the help.
Maybe i needed the kick up the butt to get on with it, maybe the guidance was all i needed.
Managed to get the pump of and change the lil tappet. Not difficult, just long. They so much smaller in real life. My worn one below.
Theres hardly any space to swing your ratchet so the banjo had to be done 1 click a time. Didn't care as no damage was caused and it worked. Shame about the two buckets of sweat i lost
My cars a BWA, so why does it have a banjo? Is there other things i could have different to other bwa?
As always all comments welcome. Everything is fixable if you know what part to fix.
Octoparrot:
Mines a BWA and it has the banjo bolt. :happy2:
