Cts outlet pipe
pudding:
Even that doesn't reduce flow as much as people think it does, because all that's changed is the shape of pipe, not the diameter.
A squished pipe just looks counter intuitive and people replace it with a round one, but it's no different to squeezing the end of a garden hose. It creates a head of pressure and accelerates the water flow. I don't know if that was VW's intention, but it's certainly the physics behind it at least! I can't believe it was done for space as the K04 has a round pipe.
Paradox1:
Doubt it would be done for space. no explanation why they are not the same really, as both have the silicone connector in the same place, just going to different locations. Even the k04 reduces in size towards the turbo.
pudding:
It's weird. Ford did the same thing with the Focus RS exhaust. They squashed the pipe flat at a particular section which a 3" pipe fits in just fine! But people fitting aftermarket exhausts are finding minimal gains. We can only speculate the reasons!
Yeah the KO4 pipe does reduce down towards the turbo too. I think they wanted to increase the pipe diameter gradually to keep the gas speed up?
Paradox1:
Possibly who knows. remember they put ridiculous time in testing all these parts. i think it would be a limiting factor way above k04 tune though.
