How to...change gaitor!!

(1/3) > >>

Mackie1:
Bought myself a nice black suede gearstick gaitor from Osir last week and decided to stick it on at the weekend with the help from my good friend OTTIS. I was expecting it to be a simple straightforward 5 minute job but you gotta know what ur doing and its just as well OTTIS did...

Gear knob in OEM gaitor removed (just clips out of housing)
and new Osir one beside

Firstly take metal clip off underside of gear knob and then prize plastic o-ring off...gaitor should slip off

Now the tricky part...re-assembling the gear knob with the new gaitor. The Osir one comes with a black plastic washer at the top that under no circumstances will go on over the gear knob, (no instructions included btw) so just remove it by pulling it off. Slide new gaitor on and slide plastic o-ring back on to secure. Make sure that stitching is correctly alligned and then what we did was to use a 30mm socket over the o-ring and hammer firmly so as the o-ring clips down over the gaitor. Re-attach the metal clip, turn inside-out and amire your work!!

I used tape just to re-inforce the clips to the housing underneath.

Finally, the finished article!!

Hope this helps folks :happy2:
