Changing temperature sensor

Ok so I bought a temp sensor can some one enlighten where it is based hoping I have bought the right one too....want to change it myself!

on mk5 gti there is 2 temp sensors one on the hose at thermos stat and one under engine cover I think at the coolant pump not sure, do you know what one is faulty. a take It you mean coolant temp sensor.

Well I'm going with the one by the thermostat tbh when I ordered it they didn't ask which one I wanted not sure which is faulty...bought a thermostat originally because my heating gets warm but drops down when I'm coasting etc but was told it's not thermostat by a friend of mine!
