Had a Ctek and was delighted with it, all sorts of "restorative"  & anti_sulphation routines available on it too...good for old cars, however CTek only lasted 2 years, totally unacceptable at that price (£100 ish)! The switches on the motherboard failed and even my best leckie at work condemend it as "unfixable sh1te". They generally have a good reputation, Perhaps i had a bad one?

And I was worried about extension leads draped about the yard (at home) what with all sorts of numpty dogs/cats daughters etc about the place, it was only a matter of time before something eat the live mains lead, or the kids drove through it!
