New Edition

After selling my DBP R32 a few months ago I miss the Mk5. Bought an Edition 30 last week (number 1870, I think!). I like it a lot more than the 32, first impressions are it's a lot smoother and more comfortable to drive. Not much spec to it but it's a low miler and clean as a whistle. Has a Kenwood DNX but I'm not that impressed with it, will buy an RNS when funds permit as the one in the 32 was faultless. No plans to mod it in any way, I like it stock.

Just can't get an image to upload. I'll keep trying.
It'll remain standard. Managed 2 years with the 32 so will try and keep this one the same.

I had been searching all year for a low miles 3 door white edition 30 in manual. Was searching every few hours every day.Even viewed one in durham with 19k on the clock but wasnt upto my standard.Eventually gave up and flew down to london recently and bought a black one owner one with 28k on the clock. Then searched the other week to see what edition 30s were up for sale and couldnt believe it when i seen that one.I had even contacted that garage in may when i was looking to give me a shout if they got one in.
Then i seen it in the school car park last week where your wife works. It was like your car was haunting me as i would have snapped it up asap if i had still been looking.Ps-.Was chatting to her about the car last week as was working on the school alarm.
If you have a price on the headunit give me a shout - cosworth1978@hotmail.com

Ah, she did say she had been speaking to someone. Are you in Montrose?
Yeah I saw the car advertised I think on Sunday night and drove down Monday to view it, it's spotless and drives like a new car. I didn't commit as I was looking at a grey 50k one in London but when the lad sent pictures it had lacquer peel and dings. Priced up repairs, nav unit, flights, fuel, hotels etc for the family to go down and it wasn't far off what Edinburgh were asking. I know for sure I paid over the odds for it but it is stunning. I'm doing an extra week away working to cover the premium I paid on it. I'll drop you a mail.

Im just outside Dundee.Mine wasnt far off the asking price of yours but with what ive spent getting the car plus money ive spent at chips away, coatech getting the wheels refurbished ,getting the car professionally detailed and now just bought audi ttrs 370mm discs and 4 pots up front and r32 rears im waay over that amount.Getting a quiet stainless exhaust, induction and remap from ecotune in glasgow next year then that will be it.
The history of my ed30 is fantastic.A 71 year old owner from new,The service book is maxed out with stamps, every bit of paperwork matching the services, recalls etc and the original deposit receipt from june 2006,The cars order form and receipt, letter from feb 2007 about coming in to the dealership on march 1st 2007 to pick the car up and the main overall receipt for the car.
Love things like that.

Me too.
The white one is not quite an extensive history file, mainly book stamps. I'll have to get a look at yours. I'm down Dundee a fair bit.

Welcome to the forum Jonk, your Ed sounds like a great buy, are you hoping to keep the miles off it with your other cars? The Rallye sounds interesting, I passed on a dragon (?) green one years ago and regret to this day not buying it. That was when a GTi was £2.5K and a Rallye £4.5K. Ed30's are very tunable and capable cars, as I'm sure you know, only thing missing is the VR soundtrack!

Thanks.
The A6 is a 2005 estate, with the seats down it's like a tardis and the 1.9TDI gives me about 700mls to a tank. Great for a parts mover and plenty room for the dog and also it doesn't matter if she covers it in hair and mud. I work month on and month off so the Edition will remain relatively low miles, I'll use it plenty when home and the wife will use it on an off when I'm away. The R32 did 6000mls in 2yrs. The Rallye has been painted, had the engine rebuilt and the front end bushed and coated. Just needs the rear end dropped and stripped and all the electrics sorted. If I'm honest I can't really be bothered with it but it's an investment. Little things annoy me like I bought a new bonded screen for it which is missing a clip - can I find a clip anywhere for it?, not a chance. I think I'll finish it and sell it on.
The Mk2 is ace. Completely redone and is mint, will never sell it as it has too much history with me and wife and apart from paint it's pretty much a new car with all the work that's been done on it. Once I suss out how to post pics, I'll put some up.

Great story. A great investment by way of the Rallye, crazy prices for some now. The Ed should be a good investment too if you keep the miles that low. There'll always be a market for well specced low milers. Mine's now on 80+ and I can't bring myself to sell it. It just does everything, mountain bikes in the back, great for a blast, decent on fuel n insurance. What colours your Mk2. Mine's a grey 3dr '91, made it through it's original 8V engine, that made way for a 2.9 out a Corrado which sadly let go, and there it waits....9 years since my daughter came along, engineless, :driver: sat in my garage. And like you, I'll never sell it, so many great memories.  :happy2:

It's an oak green 16v.
Went to London for it in 97 and sold it in 2005 when we bought the house. I had numerous Mk2's since but none ever fitted the bill as Jonk did. I tracked it down and stuck a note through the door. The lad was willing to sell but he knew the story so offered it up at 6500 which I refused. 2yrs later I went back and he had lost his job so wanted to sell. He had a 5dr oaky also and said I had to take both cars or none. I had budgeted 5k for Jonk and bought both cars for 5500. Sold the 5dr for 2700 so I got my car back cheap. It had done 24000mls in the 10yrs since I sold it, same wheels, tyres, interior, steering wheel, battery, it was like the day I sold it. Since then it's had everything done. Just waiting to get it detailed next week as the paint is original and kind of dull, I cant afford to paint it so hopeing a detail will sort it out.

Whats the best option for loading pics, tried flikr and that imgBB with no joy
