Boot carpet removal - inside quarter panel
« on: October 08, 2017, 04:32:44 pm »
Hi guys,

As above. How do you remove the carpet section? Apart from the flexible piece that allows access to the rear bulbs, I'm at a bit of a loss as where to start?

Thanks in advance.

It depends if you want to fully remove it there is a wee bit of work in that. If you want to move it to the side to gain access to something it is easier.
Remove the carpet on the floor. Easy
Remove the plastic bit that you lift things over. The shape of it is a one piece U shape going along the flat and up each side. Start at a vertical side and pull out from the top there are about 3 clips it think. Do the other side. Note that the rubber boot seal can get in the way. They are quite tight so measured force is required.
With the sides out start and go along the flat bit. This should be easier. Remember to ease the boot seal and watch out for the 2 metal body coloured loops that hold this trim on along the front of it.
Once removed you will see there are a couple of larger plastic push in rivet thingys either side holding the carpet remove them. Remove the chrome luggage loops, they are quite tight and are torx.
On the passenger side there is a screw/torx that hold the rubber strap in place.
pull the carpet down and away from the parcel shelf support this should give you access required.
Reassemble it the reverse.
TIP put a small bit of coloured tape where the clips are to ease reinstall.
If you want to properly remove the carpet you will need to remove the plastic parcel shelf supports.
