upgrade from iPhone 6 to 7, or to 8??

The 7 is a great phone.  8 isn't worth bothering with as there is nothing over the 7 worth bothering with.

As Willni said, buy the phone outright unlocked if you can (worth more s/hand), with a cheap 4G deal, or Pay as you go.  Contracts are a complete rip imo, especially on the iPhone X.  £70 a month over 2 years = £1680 to have the latest and greatest.  Bonkers!

I've just jumped from a 7 to an 8 simply because I but mine outright, I dropped my 7 and got a refurb one on insurance so could sell it for top money.

The 8 is great, maybe slightly quicker but not really that you'd ever notice. The wireless charging I've used once lol. The huge downside to the 8 I find is as the rear is made of glass it slides off of everything!!!

Unless things have changed in recent months, I thought wireless charging is so slooooooow compared to a good old fashioned piece of wire?

I went from a 5 to a 7... the reason I didn't go for an 8 is there is so little difference and I could get an immaculate Unlocked 256GB iPhone 7 off of eBay for £500. I always buy outright and then pay £5 per month for my BT mobile contract with more data/texts/calls than I need. I'll keep this for a year or 2, keeping an eye on what Apple release and in 2 years time this phone will still be worth £300, so it's not cost me a lot per month as a placeholder; while I wait for a decent phone to be released.

A lot of people think they get a "free" upgrade on a contract...

So, in short, go for a 7  :happy2:

I went from a 5S to a 7 - bought it outright for the same reasons mentioned earlier. It's unlocked, and the money that EE were wanting to upgrade me to an 'IPhone tariff' in terms of the monthly cost was just too much I felt. I upgraded my plan when it was due - got a cheaper tariff and more data than I had before, so no need to move to an 'IPhone plan' to have a newer phone!
In the future my circumstances will be different, and may not have the cash upfront to buy outright (am looking to buy a house), so this was one of the things I wanted to update before I might not be able to so easily in future.

I chose the 7 as it had a faster processor than the 6, and I think the camera was better. Haven't looked at the 8, but the prices sound eye-watering. I went for the smaller 7 (not the one that is a mini tablet in size!) and have been very happy with the better screen resolution, camera, etc.
