Rcd 510 straight swap?
« on: November 04, 2017, 11:55:14 am »
Looking to slightly improve my standard gti stereo as id like the memory card function. Is it a straight swap from the bog standard system?

The RCD510 will be a straight swap for your standard (im guessing RCD300) stereo in as much as the fit.  You will need a new CANBus to stop battery drain.  I got mine from @Eddie-NL on here and followed some online guides for fitment.  The stereo is very easy to fit, again have a look online.  The CANBus is a bit of a pain but definitely do-able.

PS.  This is the exact upgrade I done in my car.   :happy2:

08 plate and late 07 won't need an updated CAN Gateway. Even the RNS-510 just needs a GPS antenna that it's fitted above the headunit. It's very easy as well.
