Intercooler size

Hi,

Im no expert in this area.

I'm looking into getting an intercooler for my 06 mk5 gti. The previous owner has already cut the crash bar.  I think it had a wellycooler
Which size should i be looking for?

As far as I could establish the S3 8p IC would be a direct fit, no need to cut the crash bar. From there onwards most bigger units require some modification.

The crash bar has already been cut. So i dont mind a bigger intercooler than an S3

If it were me I would restore the frontal impact integrity with a new crash bar and fit an S3 cooler as suggested.   You don't really need any more than that for a K03 anyway.   Big buckets take longer to fill than small ones = laaaaaaaag.

Otherwise measure said hole and find a suitable sized cooler on ebay to fill the gap.

Wise words. Anything more than S3 would be overkill for k03 and will for sure cause some lag.
