Porsche 986 caliper adapters
« on: June 13, 2018, 09:47:39 am »
Hey guys, I’ve just got myself a set of boxster calipers for the 312mm discs and now looking for adapters and lines etc.
Does anyone have experience here of this kit?

Vagbremtechnic’s kit is £260 which seems quite a lot when Creation do the adapters for £99 + lines for £50.

Any advice here??

I hope you haven’t got alloy hubs!

No I just have all original at minute.
But thanks for the link. Ive read quite a lot about the kits now. But as Dave B isn’t the man in charge of it all now, the prices have all gone up.

Im sure I found two suppliers for the adaptors. Went for the Creation ones at £100 a long time ago...  If it helps the adaptors are marked BR0010 complete with 4 12m x 60 bolts. Don't have a code etc for the HEL lines Ill have a search for you :happy2:

You should without a doubt have no issues with the Vagbremtechnic adapters if you have original steel hubs on your car.

Then I would recommend go for the kit Vagbremtechnic sells - these are tested on track and calculated to stand the stress the brakes put to the adapters. When it comes to tires and brakes you don't buy budget stuff!

Dave is no longer in charge for Vagbremtechnic and haven't been for a while now, instead it's a guy called Mike - aweomse dude!

Yes it's irritating these adapters was stated fit the VW Passat B6 that has the alloy hubs, but it is a honest mistake to think all cars build from the MK5 platform can use these brackets. However the stuff that still is making me recommend Vagbremtechnic is how they handle issues like this. I'm still haven't putted my 986 calipers on the alloy hubs since new brackets has to be calculated to withstand the pressure, so no rush here.

I'll rather wait a getting some brackets that are safely calculated than buying some bad brackets and having the brakes fail en sitautions where they are needed the most.

Darkside also do brackets too, but I’m not sure if they are actually just Vagbremtechnic’s as they’re pretty much the same price.

I don’t wanna scrimp but £100 is a big difference in price.

I don’t believe people should automatically assume that a cheaper price means lower quality. A direct seller like Creation has lower sales margins built into their list price than products sold via dealers.  That is not to knock VBT who make nice quality products but just a reflection of the way the business world works. Epytec.de might also have an option for you.

Only kits I can find are :
creation £99 + lines (40-50)
Vagbremtechnic £250-260 incl lines.
Or
Darkside £180 +lines and delivery.

Seems a big difference. Although I know it was Vagbremtechnic that invented them and did all the hard work.

I went for the Creation ones simply because of the price I needed to fund brand new calipers at £700/pr   Choice is yours

I’ve actually gone for a kit put together by Darkside developments.
I’ll post some pictures and a link when they arrive.
