Hello to all!
« on: November 08, 2018, 03:46:10 PM »
I decided to join this forum as I'm now in the market for decent mkV as a daily driver (unless you tell me that's a bad idea ).
So, after my bmw330d touring was written of by a screwfix lorry, I've decided to go more compact. Test drove a mk7 gti pp at the weekend and although it was a nice car, it left me feeling a bit indifferent TBH.
The MKV seems to tick lots of boxes on paper at least. It'll need to do an 80 mile per day commute from west london to Guildford so with leisure use about 20k a year.
Carry 2 adults, 2 12 year olds and 2 terriers. I'm 6.4 so I need head space too. The MK7 had plenty of space but my old MKIII didn't
Be reliable and fun! And cost 5-7k!  Quite a tall order eh?
I'm thinking a regular and unmolested GTI would do me as a worker and fun car.
I have a VW T25 syncro camper so I'm used to doing low level maintenance myself but nothing more taxing than oil/filter changes.

So, what do you think - good idea or massive pain?
