MK6 LED Rear Lights Coding
shoaybmakda:
Hi all
Have bought some genuine LED rear lights for the MK6 and wondered if anyone has coded these to their car?
I bought this adapter off eBay thinking I could fit these and then it would just need coding in via VCDS but then I started reading about BCM modules - would I need to change mine?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-Mk6-RETROFIT-HALOGEN-to-LED-REAR-TAIL-LIGHTS-ADAPTER-CABLE-HARNESS-R20/273417837589?fits=Model%3AGolf&epid=2233907936&hash=item3fa8f91c15:g:nygAAOSwG2dbep18
Also looking into the coding about the infamous byte 18 - mine is currently set as 00 (which I think I the default). My car currently has bi-xenon headlights (without DRL). What would I need to change this number to?
omeydz:
When I did mine I had to upgrade to later BCM module so that the Correct coding options became available for Bixenon with LED DRL and rear led lights. must end 087 and be a late production one. Cant remember specifics as I did it so long ago!
shoaybmakda:
I was hoping I didn't need to do that!
How would I tell if i needed a new BCM @omeydz ?
omeydz:
if your current unit is 086 its a midline and needs to be upgraded to a late 087 version i think its a 30byte one of the top of my head.
will need something like this:

shoaybmakda:
I've just checked on vcds and it's 087D so an earlier version.
Looks like I won't be fitting them anyway as the guy I bought them from isn't replying to my emails and I was supposed to have had the lights on Monday. So might go down the after market route instead and get ones that don't need coding and have sequential indicators
