Info needed to Fit Xenon headlights!!
MrVW1589:
As titled, can someone please confirm if I have to wire in the shutters on the xenon headlights I want to fit on my mk5? I bought some genuine xenons off an edition 30 gti and have read about wiring the shutters but apart from the wiring of the them from the CESC to the headlights, do I actually have to write this as the adapter kit I’ve seen is just the plugs?!
Any help much appreciated!!

My mate had the same and had some wiring connector he brought. All fitted together snug! Plug and play, he didn’t have to touch any wiring. Just had to code them in afterwards.

No, you don't have to. I ran my retrofitted xenons without it for 6 months.
You can run the xenons without the shutter wire and when you need high beam, your halogen beams will kick in as usual.
When you finally do wire the shutter in and open up the shutter on the xenon at night, you'll never want to go back to halogen-only high beam - it's night and day!
Rossimac:
The thin wire (mine was yellow) coming out of the adapter should be there - where did you get yours from if they don't have it?
MrVW1589:
Thanks for your replies guys!! Much appreciated and yeah I have since now found an add on eBay for the adapter plugs with the yellow shutter cable already attached. I just wanted to know if I Had to wire the shutters that’s all. I have looked at a few tutorials and normally I’m pretty handy doing things myself, changed my gateway previously, my bumpers and rear lights etc. But don’t feel too confident about doing this myself. Don’t suppose anyone is from Nottingham/East Midlands area who’s willing to help me for some beer money??
