S3 Brakes - anti squeal shim?
« on: January 15, 2019, 05:52:47 pm »
Should they have the non squeal metal shims like my bigger rear calipers or do the pads just sit in the caliper as pictured.

Thanks.

Are they rear calipers yeah? If so then yeah they usually have the metal shim.

The rear brakes have shims, the front ones don’t  :happy2:

They are the front. So no shim, the pad just slides in.

Looks like a nice glossy refurb on those but the paint in the grooves might be giving you issues binding on the pad. The stepped parts of the casting where the pad 'ends' slide in and out along could maybe do with filing back to metal so that the pads slide freely. Too much paint will bind them up as they try to slide.
