Wiper arm removal tool
« on: February 19, 2019, 07:05:09 pm »
Already have a tool to remove arms but on the mk5 it's a bit big and can't get the angle

As any one tried these or any other that worked

Think it's me been paranoid as I have never noticed the n/s wiper been slightly higher on the mk5

don't mk5 wipers stop in different positions every time or did I make that up?

I had my windscreen replaced because of a crack. I didn’t notice at first but the passenger wiper arm was a lot higher up than it should be when in its resting position. I bought that laser tools one and it was crap. Could not apply enough force even with a spanner.

The one that jaffa links to was also crap. It needs about 5mm extra thread. By the tine I managed to get the clamps around the bottom, the silver knob had come off the thread.

Still looking for a better option.
Probably just being useless.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I need to take my wipers off at some point to get to my ECU, and I'm sure my passenger wiper arm is 1 or 2 teeth out from perfect! I planned on getting one of these cheap tools too:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-VAN-WINDSCREEN-WINDOW-WIPER-ARM-REMOVER-PULLER-REPAIR-TOOL-15-72/221997882549?hash=item33b01adcb5:g:NAsAAOSwqrtWm-pc:rk:1:pf:0

hope it works. but ill keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone else has a better idea
