Rust on boot/ badge area

Hoping someone’s done this and apologies my first post so sorry if this has been discussed before.

Basically in the boot where the VW badge sits I’ve got rust and paint started to flake. Ideas on how to sort this???

Its a common problem and one I also have.
Haven't done anything about it yet but looks like it's rusting from the inside out so I'm think you would need to get the tailgate door card off and tackle it from there.
Some rust eater might slow things down in the mean time.
