Steve_mk5:
Hi All
Whilst not a GTI, I picked up a cheap as chips 1.4TSI GT Sport with 60k on the clock as a small "Sunday" project.... I run a company car so something to fill a space in the garage and take me back to my youth!

After a bit of a clean up, she soon had a new set of wheels (genuinely needed as corrosion on the old ones was letting air out) and some coilovers

Then front grille smoothed

And a few interior bits done (not sure what I was thinking here.....!)

Sadly, and as more and more of the google nightmares of this engine came to light, the timing chain stretched.....

GTI splitter and rear bumper.... Plus an armrest, mk6 style rear lights, headlining recover, and a few other bits of tinkering, She's back up and running!

Welcome to the forum!
Really interested to see what you do with the car!
Good thing you changed the timing belt but there are many issues that can go wrong with that engine.
I have the same engine and I am considering changing it all together.

What stereo did you change too? Car looks great, a good cheap upgrade would be the dynamic led mirror indicators in smoke.
