The car got a new cam follower just before I bought it from vw, sounds like it's coming from the timing chain area, is it common for the tensioners to go?

Car went to vw, they inspected the issue and got a new hydralic tappet the noise was away for couple of days but it came back need to book it in again pretty sure it sounds like a chain tensioner as the tappet didn't fix it

It sure could be the chain and tensioner then. Do you have a ticking/rattling on idle when the engines at operating temperature and hardly no noise when cold?
