Yeah just renewed mine, seem to keep going up £10 a year. Had a discussion with my mate who owns a Golf MK7 Diesel and he does 24,000 miles a year yet pays just £20 road tax for it, I do 3x less mileage yet pay 15x more for it. Doesn't really make any sense this VED business.

What they do in Jersey (where I come from) is to collect the road tax at the fuel pumps with an increased level of VAT. That way, the people who use the roads more pay their way more fairly. It also hits the owners of less efficient vehicles more heavily. This would be easy to implement in UK but minority interests would likely kick up a fuss.

You're still paying less than my R32, plus I only do about 2k miles a year!

Was told about the Jersey way over 6years ago, think it's a great idea but it'll never happen here.

Be a lot better if it was like Jersey I could get more cars then. Not sure the Mrs will buy that idea lol.

That’s why I never got a r32 tax is a joke and I already have a Corrado VR6, with a cracking sound track and to be honest I like a four pot turbo nice and light on the front, so hence the ED30. To have AWD would of been nice, as I have never had a car with that setup and would of liked one. Oh well maybe if I get bored with the ED or they blood tax of the road. lol

Yes in the last two years the tax gone up £20, It’s a joke. If you have a mk7.5 Golf R that only cost you £135 road tax a year if I remember right!  Surely the higher road tax is going to hit the value of the cars making it a less palatable choice keeping them on the road.

The joke is diesels are more polluting!

The fuel stinks it makes a complete mess when it goes anywhere it’s just disgusting.

Nah couldn’t be bothered with the hassle to be honest. Cost £72 to repair, dropped the wheel off on the way to work. Got a call by 15:00 and by 16:00 wheel was back on car. All sorted on same day. I should of been looking where I was driving, so my fault to be fair. Happy dayz.

 hmmmmmmmmmm my dvla rip off letter has just landed reminding me that I have to pay £300 to tax a 14 yr old car.
I have decided that the dvla need to increase tax to pay for multi lingual signs on the m6 .........no where in Europe do they do this :fighting:
