No sound from bluetooth
« on: August 05, 2019, 11:25:24 am »
Hi all

My car came with a Bluetooth module installed (5n0035730B) and the previous owner also fitted (the useless) TPK music kit. I've just changed the Bluetooth module to a 7P6035730K and taken out the power for the TPK kit so it's switched off. My Bluetooth module connects fine and I can see the track names appearing on the RNS510 but I get no sound (MDI and CD work fine). Also when I call someone they can hear me but I can't hear them.

Any ideas?

we had an issue whilst streaming audio from my wife's Galaxy S10e to the RNS510 via bluetooth. All exactly as you describe.
On her phone, there is a bluetooth volume setting and this was on very low/mute - whacked it up and it was fine.

worth a try?

@richtung thanks for the advice. Can confirm volume was up on both head unit and phone but no sound.

It seems as if Bluetooth sound is being sent to the TPK music device or something as nothing Bluetooth related seems to work (sound wise) but functionality is all okay..

Also in the Bluetooth settings within the  phone, there is a setting call use other sound source or something like that, check that’s not checked.

If not already done, deleted the phone and re-added that may sort it.

I’ve seen the same issue as you after the I had a software update. Didnt work again until I got a new update on the phone.

Otherwise a factory reset maybe in order.

@Dogma thanks for the tip. Tried the phone settings but no joy. Then did a reset on the unit and module to see if that did anything but no joy.

Really frustrating that I can see it all working but no sound! Might try the Mrs phone and see if that works. Might just be my phone!

Hi

I’m thinking the same, test another phone on it.

@Dogma do you know if I need a different loom? As I retrofitted the RNS510 to the car and maybe the existing loom is not RNS/7P6 Module compatible?

Haven't tried the other phone yet but just thinking of other possible solutions.

The TPK module has been disconnected completely now and still the same.

Hi unsure on that, but if it was working I would think you should be ok.

Looks like I might need a new loom. As the RNS510 was retrofitted and the existing loom was for the 9w2 version of Bluetooth looks like I need a look which caters for 9w7 platform of Bluetooth.

Will have to find a new loom and see how it goes!
