aircon fans

hi all, my air stopped working last year want to try do most repair work myself, need to know if with aircon on should the fans be running as mine dont , any help or advice appreciated.

If aircon has failed it will be ......in no order
Needing re gas
Compressor failure
1 or both rads
Or a mix of any above

As long as the gas pressure reaches requirements in the system the idle will raise when you turn the aircon on. Doesn’t necessarily mean the aircons working.

Yes re: the radiator fans.  Put the HVAC on Auto LO and both fans should be blowing at full bifters.  If you have VCDS you can output test the fans with the engine off.  I do that periodically because you won't know they're working otherwise, unless you get out of the car and pop the bonnet in traffic  :grin:

If they're not blowing, it could be the A/C is dead, in which case the fan controller won't switch them on.
