« on: September 10, 2019, 08:15:42 pm »
Anyone tried the above?
Looks a steal at £100 for full subframe kit

Also what does the subframe noise sound like and when does it do it?
I gave a knock/click when turning at slow speed

I’d be interested in views on this also as it seems decent value ie about the right price for a handful of aluminium collars / bolts. The VAG specialist garage I have previously used refuses to install them as he claimed there were fitting issues but may have a conflict of interests......

Buy from dealer, pay twice as much.

I would want to know what they are made of, but for 100 quid its got to be worth a punt, especially if you can fit them yourself.

Yeah , I would be fitting them myself, and I’ll ask them what the collars are made of. What are the tyrolsport one made of?

I’m trying to trace a knock so not even sure it’s my subframe ?

I think they are some sort of bronze alloy, which is very resistant to corrosion. My guess is the CM ones are anodised aluminium... hence the massive price difference

They look like anodised aluminium, same as the ECS collar kit. The large cost advantage is also due to them being a direct seller and not needing to add a dealer / reseller sales margin like Tyrol.

954 Bronze is about 6 times the price of aluminium... roughly.

Yep, bronze is expensive. No argument there.  I guess my beef is more with Ollie. As a moderator, he should be impartial / neutral rather than making sales pitches / casting aspersions about brands he doesn’t sell.

If Ollie however has some specific knowledge to share into the CMS collars being sub-par, then I’m sure people would be interested in hearing. As I see things however, the CM kit at £100 for front and back seems a pretty attractive proposition.

Yep seller confirmed they are made of aluminium.
Surely still fit for purpose?

Aluminium will be fine, just like the subframe, and the ECS ones seem well reviewed. A smear of grease should keep corrosion at bay.

I gave a knock/click when turning at slow speed
I Fitted about a month ago, creaking has gone. :pomppomp: :pomppomp: Make yourself aware of exactly where the bolts, bushes go before getting underneath.Give everything a light spray or lithium grease when fitting
Removing the old bolts can be a pain I got my mates impact wrench and a full tin of penetration fluid (overnight soaking)
I have the powerflex ALK fitted which you will need smaller 12mm washers for. This wont be an issue if you still have oem fitted.
bloody creaking and knocking annoyed me for weeks. Torque wrench is your friend for this one.

Sounds good, can you tell me symptoms of the subframe noise?
