GTI SPRING FESTIVAL - SANTA POD – SUNDAY 11TH APRIL

<< < (44/47) > >>

KRL:
Had a great day out.  Glad I managed to pop over and say hello as I spent most of the day around the ASN stand.  My best time for the day was 13.7 with a trap speed of 103.55 MPH.  Was very pleased with that seeing as the best I could manage last time was 14.2.

The pics are great! Really good day, was good to see some of the cars in the flesh too  :happy2:

It was a really good day...lots of nice motors... Good to catch up with some of the forum members and have a friendly natter.  :happy2:

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with my run times though... best I got was 14.2969 (100.98 mph).  I was hoping for better times. Since the last visit back in March 09 I've had a HPFP, IC, and Stage 2+ remap.

Considering the changes and money spent it's seems like a very small (if any) improvement over the original 14.5.  :sad1:

I also found it was hard to engage the launch mode this time round...has anyone had similar experiences?

On most occasions I would need to press the pedal a few times for the car to decide it had to rev over 1000 rpm. Is that normal?  Can't seem to recollect that happening last time round.

Is it just me or does the stage 2+ remap also remove the red line limiter...at times my car was at 7000 rpm. Not that it was complaining

Just goes to show there is a real art to this... and I really need to further reduce wheel hop and increase traction.  Really need some guidance here...  all I seem to be doing was spinning my wheels in 1st and 2nd.

Hi Mojo,

Plenty of meat to get the times down there!

2.5 and 2.69 for the 60' times means you are definitely launching wrong. Try launching normally (without the LC and with TC on)) first to get a baseline start, don't simply mash the throttle otherwise you'll end up with a heap of wheelspin and then power loss when the TC cuts in. Once you've done that, try launching with various throttle positions with the TC off and LC on. I've found with normal tyres that around 2.2-2.5k rpm gives me a good launch and I short shift into second if I feel wheelspin coming in. Tyres are a big issue and something like R888's will allow you to launch much more agressively and with little wheelspin. :happy2:
