Surprised no detailers have chimed in about chemicals and paint + it’s not great to seals - both rubber and the clubbing kind.

Any other upgrades to go along with it?

Options are drive further afield, move house, or try someone more local such as Ecotune, or find a local Revo or APR Dealer

If even they are too far/further than you're willing to travel then your options are a local file flasher (The 'we map any vehicle' type setups' or you get yourself a postal remap from Bluefin etc. where you can flash it yourself. I wouldn't go down either of those routes though

I fill a plastic food bag with hot water from the tap, and run that over the windscreen, works wonders and keeps your hand warm at the same time! Clears the ice and isn't too hot that it might cause cracked windscreen issues.

Did see Ecotune in Glasgow. Are the revo and APR maps customised to the car or generic boxes?

I think this is because you have asked a question that has been asked and answered many times already, especially given how old our cars are now.

If you have a rummage around the site you will see such answers which are usually full of excellent info. Even a google search 'mk5 golf gti remap apr/revo/custom', will return many threads about remaps from this site.

Ecotune offer APR maps or their own custom mapping - they are good at what they do

APR and Revo are 'generic' maps (not tuning boxes) that have some customisation available (Octane maps for APR and Revo has some customisation available) but do not confuse these with then £150 flash maps offered by every man and his dog. They are EXTREMELY well developed, hundreds if not thousands of hours in development and testing and are very very good.

My car has been on Revo software (Stage 1, 2 and now 2+) for over 80 thousand miles and I'm more than happy with it

Thanks guys,

I called Ecotune today and gave me answers I was looking for.

Best bang for my bucks would be a stage 1 APR. I was considering an Airfilter upgrade but the tupe they offered was £440.  A Redline brand.
